I have two ship-builds that I think pair together well in the Escalation format
The Hypermobile B-Wing
Blue/Dagger Squadron Pilot
+ Advanced Sensors
+ Engine Upgrades
[29/31]
The Outer-Rim Blocker
Outer Rim Smuggler
+ Navigator
+ Intelligence Agent
+ Anti-Pursuit Lasers
[33]
I want to use at least 2 Hypermobile B-Wings, and at least 1 ORB, but am unsure of how to spend the remaining points.
The idea is that the ORB is fantastic and fanatical about getting in the way, while the Hypermobility of the B-Wings is able to shift directions well enough not to crash into my own shifting blocker.
Now, there are 59 points remaining, so I can get 2 more ships that average 29 points each, or I can get 3 that average 19 points each, or I can use the leftover points to purchase cheaper ships and further upgrades for my existing ships (Cannons, Torpedoes, increased Pilot Skill, or a Title).
Now, the easiest answer is simply to add two more Hypermobile Blues, but I find this unsatisfactory. If all 5 ships of my fleet share the same weaknesses (high HP vs low Agility), then I'll get completely wiped out by a fleet that can exploit that (like, say, a Swarm or an Alpha-Strike fleet).
I'm thinking that, regardless of whether it's 2 or 3 more ships, they ought to serve different roles than the ships I've already got, you know?
Regardless, throw paint on my wall, and I'll figure out how to divvy up the phases myself
