What other games do you play?

By Tycho120, in X-Wing

Hi. I'm curious as to what board games interest X-Wing players. I play Battletech and Edge of the Empire. What tabletop/RPG games do you play?

D&D
I've loved every "RPG-in-a-box" that I've played (e.g. Arkham Horror)
"Bang!"
Magic: the Gathering
Risk
Risk's insane cousin (Twilight Imperium)
Settlers of Catan
Ticket to Ride

...Basically, if you're willing to teach me a game, I'm willing to beat you at it.

RPG's:

Shadowrun, Dragon Age, home brew medieval fantasy

Board:

Descent 2.0

Power Grid

Eldritch Horror

Firefly

Ticket to Ride

Pandemic

Core Worlds

Pathfinder Adventure card game

Risk (Mass Effect version)

The list goes on and on and on...

Mostly board games, most recently we tend to choose from:

Ticket to Ride

Pandemic

Catan

Munchkin (+ umpteen expansions)

Space Alert

Betrayal at house on the hill

Ca$h 'n Gun$

Panic Station

Battlestar Galactica

Lords of Waterdeep

Alhambra

Dixit

Oh Hell!

Carcassonne

Machiavelli

I am not a tabletop game player. My main hobby has been video gaming, specifically fighting games. For those not familiar that would be games like Street Fighter, though I do not specifically play Street Fighter much.

After getting into X-wing I have branched out a bit and purchased a few more tabletop games:

Tannhauser + almost all of its expansions

Leviathans

Tanto Cuore

Arkham Horror

I find I am more interested in miniatures games than board games but the high cost and need to paint and/or assemble many of them makes it less appealing. I wish I had supported the Robotech RPG Tactics kickstarter, those miniatures could probably look good even with a very simple paint scheme.

Right now the popular ones are:

FFG Star Wars RPG

Agricola

But I play far too many to list then all.

Little of this little of that.

Pandemic

Tannhauser

Mage knight

Resident evil deckbuilder

Axis & Allies

Risk

Quarriors

Suburbia

Heroscape

As well as SW:Edge of the Empire RPG (tons of fun!!)

and our own version of D&D based off of Summoner Wars

There are many, many others, but these listed above tend to hit the table moreso than others.

I play with a board game group on Wednesdays, and we play all kind of games.

Puerto Rico

Formula D

Munchkin

Ticket to Ride

Sentinels of the Multiverse

Star Trek Catan

Settlers of Catan

Small World

Tsuro

Firefly

Just to name the ones we've played recently. Played a good game of Starcraft the Boardgame today.

Do you really want to list my gaming choices of the last 35 years? Way too many to list!

But here are a few recent interests: Dystopian Wars, Zombicide, Muskets & Tomahawks, Epick 40K (SM2/Titans Legions), Battlefleet Gothic.

As far as non-digital gaming goes, it's just Magic and X-Wing for me. My digital gaming habits change with the wind. Most recently I've been playing:

Dark Souls 2 (highly recommended)

Diablo 3

Elder Scrolls Online

Hearthstone

Less recently, but still on a semi-regular basis:

Defense of the Ancients 2

MechWarrior Online

And on rarer occasions:

Path of Exile

World of Tanks (still waiting for a Sherman Firefly)

Android: Netrunner

Mage Wars

Twilight Imperium 3rd edition

Love Letter

one is not like the others

Me and my group prefer games where we can trash talk each other or laugh at each other(be it their or our own) failures. Also, light games that we can all enjoy while drinking a couple of beers without thinking too much. they must also play fast, we can only meet during the week so with our working schedule, we can't dedicate 4-10 hours like we used to we we were young and without any responsibility...

Super Dungeon Explore

Cutthroat Cavern

Resistance Avalon

Zombicide

Bang!

Munchkin Quest

Fury of Dracula

To name a few...

I play lots of other games. There's, uhhhh… and of course, uhhhh…, well I guess…nope, no other real board games I play right now. Trying to start up a homebrew RPG based on D&D/Pathfinder. Maybe I'll have to try EotE, sounds fun. So does DZC.

City of horror

Star craft with expansions

This was my first ever miniatures game and other than playing Battlefield 4 on the Xbox 360

( InstantAequitas, same as here) I don't play any other games except during deployment, which mainly consists of Spades, Texas Hold 'em, Risk, Chess, Trivial Pursuit, and Scrabble.

Edited to correct how much my grunt was showing in the formation of this collection of words which supposedly form a coherent thought.
