Ok, I KNOW the shuttle pretty much requires an engine upgrade......

By Audio Weasel, in X-Wing

But this build just appeals to the troll in me. Has anyone tried:

2x OGP + FCS + Ion Cannon + Gunner + Anti-Pursuit Lasers

Captain Yorr + Ion Cannon + Gunner + Anti-Pursuit Lasers

Kind of like the build with ORS with APL, but with this one if you get the ion on a ship, you know where they're going. Yorr to pull stress from the other shuttles because of the shuttle dial, and gunners for "well, if I can't ion you, I'll just shoot you."

The EU goes well on a shuttle, but that does not mean that it is a requirement. It's all about the list you're building and the function of the shuttle in it.

If you drop the Gunner on one of the OGP's and replace it with IA and Navigator I think you should be able to plonk yourself in important paths more easily.

I never use Engine upgrade with the shuttle - I don't see the value, I am not going to try and make the bus maneuverable...

Also, a list with all shuttles? Yeah I think I'll just fly in quick and k-turn behind you and laugh as you try and turn your busses around >_< lol even if a couple get ionned I can sneak the rest behind you.

Hover Casual:

OGP x3

Sensor Jammer

Flight Instructor

Recon Specialist

4 points remaining.

With two or more shuttles, you fly them in a Thach Weave style formation. I.E. each one maneuvers in such a way that their firing arcs cover the other's blind spot.

So, you refuse to make the bus maneuverable (or really give them the ability to turn around, which is mostly what the EU is for), and then point out how easy it is to get behind them. Brilliant.

This is why you fail

A shuttle with EU can flip around on you in one turn with no stress.. never underestimate the Albino Void Bison...

Oh... you wanted to go there... sigh.. sorry.. not today.. lol

I'm not going to say that you have to put EU on a Shuttle, I see two other options. 1- doom shuttle: since the shuttle is killing itself you don't want to spend any more points on it than you have to. 2- You can also make an argument for running the shuttle without any upgrades. Stat wise the shuttle is a screaming deal. It has a terrible dial, but if you didn't invest a whole lot of points in it then it isn't that big of a deal if it isn't supper duper effective.

However, if you are going buy upgrades then EU is probably the first one I would buy.

These are the threads that get me to keep buying shuttles.

Or Jendon & Weapons Engineer in support of bombers or other missile shooters.

Or, if Assault missiles on Z95's are scaring your swarm, put in Kagi at the cost of a few fighters and keep him slightly off to the left.

There are plenty of possibilities. Linking certain upgrades to certain ships makes for unflexible minds.

Yeah there are more than the two options I saw. There are probably useful shuttle builds that niether of us discussed. But if you are just building it up to fight. And putting upgrades on it... it really should have EU.

Engine Upgrade isn't a must, clever blocking (especially with Adv. Sensors!) is a wonderful way to ruin your opponent's plans.
