5 Ship Reb List

So I'm playing in a tourney tomorrow. Thinking:

Prototype x 2

Gold x 1

Blue + FCS x 2

Changes are welcome, but my sig shows the limitations.

Edit: I've pondered changing an A to Roark, and maybe another A to a Y, but I like the thought of 2 very hard to hit targets, and a number of easy to hit, but very hard to kill targets.

A 5 ship fleet in Rebels is rarely a bad one.

However, it will probably do better if you can finangle a third ship with 3 attack.

BXXYY or AABBB are both options you might consider to that end :D

It actually improves your accuracy.

You see, 2 Blues with FCS are slightly more damaging than 2 Blues without, but either way they're more damaging than the rest of your fleet, and just as easy to take out. Moreover, the FCS isn't an immediate benefit: they do nothing before you attack.

In your list, how badly do you suffer once one of your opponents kills a B-Wing?

Contrastedly, having 3 ships that throw 3 dice at a time improves your damage by slightly more than your FCSs did to your B-Wings, while also mitigating the loss of one of your Bs.

All in all, going with the 2223*3* swarm instead of a 22333 swarm lends you

  1. A weakened alpha-strike

    ( FCS does nothing before attacking, and therefore does nothing on your first attack )

  2. A few potential rounds of telegraphed attacks that deal similar damage

    ( Assuming you're attacking the same ships over and over tells your opponent who to protect )

  3. A sharp damage fall-off

    ( Your opponents know who to kill first )

Ugh, the only thing I hate playing more than tie swarms is rebel swarms.

why not AAXXH?

H being Roark HWK + ion turret. That way you have artificially high PS, turret defense, ions that actually help your Awings become more dangerous since they can close in at range 1 for the kill, and you still get pretty much all the benefits of a standard AAXXX style swarm list

To me the bothersome part of the original squad is the naked Y-Wing. I'd rather see a HWK with Ion Turret in that spot or another X or B to give you more firepower options. Even if you keep the ships I'd want to see something on that Y-Wing even if it is just an R2 to boost it's green maneuvers.

Went A, A, X, X, Y with ion. So far Im 1-1.

BBBAA is beast. Use the Bs as tank jousters and As to block or flank.

That or the BABAB squad can pack a bit of power with them.

Finished 2-2. Faced mostly shuttles and Ints today ( everything was legal). The Ints maneuverability was a challenge for my ships, and the shuttles just have so dang many hps.

All in all, I really like the squad, but there are definitely enemies it will do far better then.

I rocked Biggs + 4 Bs.
