Hi.
I have managed to play a couple of intro scenarios whilst slowly building up my collection of cards. I now have one of each AP and deluxe expansion up until The Voice of Isengard.
I am wanting to pull together 2-4 themed decks to start running with some friends through the Core Set and Shadows of Mirkwood cycle. NO Dwarves, Gondor or Rohan - I want to save these for the future AP cycles where they will fit better thematically.
Note theme is important to me- more than competitive deck building- it is for friendly games with friends who love LOTR and game is just an excuse to wander around Middle Earth for a few hours.
So having ruled out Dwarves, Gondor or Rohan, that still leaves me Dunedain, Noldor, Silvan, Hobbits and Eagles to choose from.
Option ONE:
Deck 1: Legolas, Brand son of Bain, Beorn (OHaUH) + bunch of Eagles
Deck 2: Aragorn (Lore), Beravor, Glorfindel (Lore) + bunch of traps
Deck 3: Elladan, Elorohir, Elrond
(other choices could be to take Leadership Aragorn or Spirit Glorfindel instead of the above).
(If I was to run 4th deck along with the above, then 4th deck would probably be Hobbits)
I am a bit concerned that the 3rd deck as it stands is Tri-Sphere. I would rather stick to mono-sphere or at most dual-sphere until have got more used to game.
Option TWO:
Deck 1: Legolas, Brand son of Bain, Beorn (OHaUH) + bunch of Eagles
Deck 2: Beravor, Elrond, either version of Glorfindel.
Deck 3: Elladan, Elrohir, Leadership Aragorn (so only dual-sphere), and then pair
What do you think? Any suggsestions for a newbie to the idea of deck building? Just keeping in mind the emphasis on theme that my friends and I wanted.
Thanks very much
James
