My take on a Luxury Yacht 3000

By Xandron, in X-Wing

Luxury Yacht 3000

Pilots would be Lando with the same ability as his Falcon counter part, Mara Jade with the same ability as Luke but for offense, and the generic would be a gambler. Both Lando and Mara would get EPTs.

Titles would include:

Lady Luck: Attacker Must roll two dice before making an attack. If a hit or crit are rolled on either of those two dice, continue as normal, otherwise Lady Luck cannot be attacked by that ship this turn.

Jade's Fire: After Jade's Fire is the target of an attack, immediately perform an attack with one attack die against the ship that attacked you.

Actions would include target lock and focus.

Upgrades would be: turret, 2 crew slots, and 2 system upgrades.

It would be a large ship and maneuver slower than the falcon but with better/more green banks and turns.

Stats would probably be 2/2/3/5

Constructive criticism welcome.

Unless you give it 3 attack or 3 evade it will probably be construed as strictly inferior to the Falcon. The Turret upgrades are nice, but they only work on relatively cheap ships. Blaster Turret on a large ship is way too vulnerable to action denial and Ion turret is too low on damage. Also I'd give it Firespray or Falcon level Hull. It's a pretty large ship all things considered.

I like the abilities. The third Pilot should be a Hutt. Just because.

I'd like to see Greedo as a pilot or a crew member. No idea how to work that in lol

For pilots you have Mara for the Jade Fire and Lando for Lady Luck. The Generic could be a just about anything: Hutt Crime Lord, Gambler, Pleasure Yacht. There are probably a number of valid possibilities for a third named pilot. I could see Lobot flying in (and being potential crew) are one of Lando's ladies although I'll admit I can't name any off the top of my head.

The Luxury 3000 is a ship I could see having different base stats depending on the pilot. I could see the generic as being cheap with NO (or very weak) primary weapons but serving as an upgrade platform a bit like the Shuttle can be. Mara or Lando would have stats a lot close to what the named YTs have and could include a 360 primary attack.

Just my two cents.

I would honestly make it the Rebel version of the Lamda, but even bigger. Its dial should be "slightly faster" but still as ungainly as the shuttle, with no all-stop maneuver. No way it should have 2 evades, its 50 meters long (the Falcon is 35 meters). I would give it 2/0/9/6. Maybe 1 evade...It really is a big ship, a 1/3 of the length of the Corvette.

Its kind of boring to give Lando the same ability. I would give him an ability to let friendly's re-roll their evades within range 1 or something to that effect. Kind of playing off the fact that the Lady Luck had very advanced sensors/jammers. Let it equip a turret, two crew and two sensor like you said.

I like Mara's ability because her yacht had a "shoot-back" blaster. Maybe Mara's should have a 1/0/9/5. With 360 arc, but let her equip a Turbolaser(s)! http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jade's_Fire It would probably have to be a new card without requiring energy? Or let the Yacht act like a small capital ship and able to use energy.

I dunno. It would be kind of a hard ship to add. It draws a fine line between large and huge ship.

Despite his PS, Greedo always shoots last never shoots. :P

I would give it a base attack of 1 like the hwk. I'm pretty sure the ship only had 1 laser cannon

I figure the best way to look at it is we need a ship style we haven't seen. A large somewhat clunky to fly ship with turret weapons but 3 attack dice on it's forward weapon creates a unique play experience. As a ship larger than the Falcon it should have decent durability, and it's been described as agile for it's size making 2 evade dice seem alright, even if it seems strange on such a big ship.

For a dial I'd give it the X-wing dial with only a single white hard turn, no 4 forward and no K-turns. But I'd give it a full stop.

Statlinewise for just under Falcon Level Points I'd go 3/2/7/4

This clearly isn't a perfect fit for the ship style, but it works well and creates a unique ship people would want to fly.

That seems like a fair ship. The dial isn't nearly as nice as the Falcon or Slave, it needs a secondary weapon to have a turret, but will also be durable and just harde to take down than a Firespray. That might even be overcosting it a little give the worse dial and the statline being similar to a Firespray, but the option for a Turret upgrade is dangerous, especially with a ship that can full stop.

Giving her two evade just doesn't make sense. An X-wing has two evade. You are telling me that a ship 50 meters long and designed to be a luxury spaceship has as much maneuverability as an x-wing? It does not go along with all the other ships released. I would give it one evade and that's being generous.

I know when I think about "base" stats I really believe the Yacht is something that would have different stats for different ships like the ORS and named TYs. The base model probably has a very weak attack (HWK level) and may not even equip any weapons as primary although it would probably have an allowance for a secondary weapon. What it would offer are crew slots and it could even make use of the big ship's Energy mechanic.

The named ships would have a better primary armament but I could then see them having differing option bars. If you gave a ship a standard 2 forward primary and then gave it either a cannon or turret upgrade option you'd have two very different ships.

Sorry should have mentioned it could have a turret like the hwk as well. Maybe even a new large ship only turret, like a heavy laser turret that fires 4 attack dice?

Could also maybe make lando's version better than the base, like comparing the named falcons to the ORS. Lando might have a standard attack of 2 or 3 instead of 1, and a few extra hit points.

If the Slave has it, sure. Evade can represent a lot of things, including the durability of the ship. If an attack hits but didn't hurt anything because it hit an extremely armored section or the ship's shields are levered in a such a way where they deflect the blast that's evading. Do you really think the Firespray can evade like an X-wing either? It represents the target jamming equipment within the slave, something both Mara Jade and Lando would include in their ships as well. Evades are just another function of durability, stealth tech, and the ships native manuevreability.

So why does the Falcon have 1 agility? It is super maneuverable, fast as hell, and really durable. Its because its HUGE! At least compared to the starfighters its tangling with in this game. Its a big target for a Tie Fighter or any other kind of starfighter. The Firespray (which is significantly smaller) is a bad example and should not be compared to the with the yacht because it is was designed to be an attack craft. The Luxury Yacht 3000 was designed to be a yacht. Lando and Mara have highly modified their particular ships, but it started life as a yacht and not an attack craft. If they were to add the Yacht and it had two agility, it just wouldn't line-up with other ships in the game.
