I know they are not 1/270 scale. Has anyone been able to determine the measurements for these ships yet? Maybe someone that saw prototypes in person at a con?
Transport/corvette size
Not for certain but they are about half the size they should be, around 1/500 scale.
The corvette is, I believe, just under 12" long.
Part of me really, _really_ wants those ships to be scaled with one another (though obviously not scaled with the fighters). The rest of me wants to see the Imperials get a Nebulon B on the board at some point, and so having the precedent of not having Huge ships scaled with one another established early would be helpful for that.
I really wish they had kept scale. The corvette would have been about 21.6" (doable - even the Kenner toy was too short at 16"), and the transport - about 8"* - *going off rough memory here (the model from the Hoth diorama was close)...
Of course that would make the 18' Star Destroyer a bit spendy... o.O
I'm torn. I think there is room for 'medium' sized ships in this game...then maybe a separate capital ship game? I can't remember the Nebulon B off-hand, but 2-3' at 1/270th?
If they're already into EU, I'm about done buying into this version anyway (except for dupes to repaint).
The neb b is the "medical frigate" that we see Luke and Leia in at the end of empire. To scale with the falcon it would be about a meter in length, possibly more. Cool to have, hard to move, store and enjoy while maintaining free space in the home.
I would love a capital ship game, where the minatures from this game could represent squadrons.
This is what the huge ships would look like in 1:270 scale I wish FFG would have kept all the ships to scale.
So what if they would be too big to play with I would find a way.
I totally disagree. I think the sliding scale makes the ship usable on the table. That thing is way to huge to be in the same game as the rest of the stuff.
The models are part of a game. The small and large ships should be on-scale, that totally makes sense. But the huge ships are just plain too big to include in the game at 1/270th scale.
I understand the desire to see models all lined up at the same scale, but ultimately speaking, that's not in the best interest of the game.

Gamers always find a way... lol... the point would be the cost. How much would you guys be willing to pay for a model on scale?

“SO I don't care” Boomer says like a 4 year old.
But seriously deep down Hexis I know your right.

I would be willing to pay $500 or a bit more for a model if I knew I would use it often.(.. and it was painted which these are. Hehe)

I don't want to be reminded that my blasters can't shoot the length of most Capitol ships. It would hurt immersion.

We're gonna need bigger blasters...
