New FAQ and Tournament rules are up.

Title says it all. I know the date shown on the support page disagrees with me, but check the links.

Wow, they reduced full win down to 12 points from 33... biggest change I've seen thus far.

Our prayers have been answered.

I would also call making initiative a choice, where you would've had it before, is pretty big.

Oh snap... I totally read right over that...

It's interesting the changes they made to escalation, though it's nice that it's now an official event. I wonder, they say all ships and upgrades must be used when coming from one round to the next... does that mean I can change pilots? (as in R1 I have a rookie, R2 I have Luke?)

Hazaaaaa!

Read the Ruling on Swarm Tactics. :P Hint: the word "may" might have been thrown in.

Since Easter is this weekend, they may have wanted finding it to be an Easter egg. Sorry to spoil it for everyone... :P

Link?

Oh yea! I was hoping this would happen!

And yea, a link would be great. I can't find it anywhere.

I'm curious what effect this will have on Falcons, seeing as they can keep 40+ points tied up on the board even if they have just 1HP left when time is called. Not a concern, just a thought.

edit: cheeky response incoming

I'd guess that you cannot change pilots.

Elsewhere in the FAQ and rules, they refer to "ship cards" and not "pilot cards", leading me to think that a "ship" is a combination of Model + Ship Token + Ship Card.

When a player assigns maneuver dials, he may assign them to Ship cards rather than placing them next to ship bases.

For the (very) lazy :

Wow, this FAQ is really revamped. The card clarification section is impressive.

No, otherwise the rules would mention it. What you're asking about has never been a part of the Escalation format.

Just a FYI. On that page it still has the old date listed, but the file is the updated FAQ.

Links? Its the same place it has always been. Catalog-miniatures-Xwing-support.

Most impressive.

This is a new one isn't it?

Q: If a ship has a turret primary weapon (or is equipped with
a secondary weapon), is the ship considered to have a
360-degree firing arc?
A: No. Turret primary and secondary weapons allow a ship to ignore its
printed firing arcs. A ship’s firing arcs are always the printed, shaded arcs
on its ship token.

Huh. They changed tournament matching to seed top-to-bottom within a point group rather than best-to-best. I'll leave it to Robert to consider the deeper implications of that, but it's potentially a big change from standard Swiss.

I like the initiative is a choice deal.

ST is now optional! No more swarming ps0!

Also, the initiative change will make some people very happy. I don't think it was necessary, but a decent number of people seemed to want it.

@Dagonet: Not really. It's something we knew well, it just was never in the FAQ before.

That's what I meant. :P .

Making it the word of god in the FAQ preempts a lot of discussion come Outmaneuver time.

I'm so glad they included the Expansion rules. Even though many of us have multiple copies of all the ships, not everyone does, and so they didn't have direct access to all the relevant rules until now!

Oh, they finally provided the big ship expansion rules! That's a win.

And am I missing something, or did the list of legal expansions vanish?
