Innsmouth Horror: Wagers & Speculations!

By Guest, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Let's start speculate!

Here's what I think:

1. All locations would be unstable

2. At least 6 out of the 9 locations would be aquatic, and at least 2 out of the 3 streets would aquatic

3. Dagon and Hydra won't be stronger than Black Goat seperately, but together they would be much stronger

4. We will see more Ancient Ones that uses spawn monsters (unlike the Ancient Ones in Kingsport Horror)

5. We will get at least 1 new Mask monster, and I think we will even get 2 Masks, for a total of 10 Masks with all board expansions

6. We will get many aquatic monsters

7. We will get at least one fast Ancient One (10 doom tokens) and one slow Ancient One (14 doom tokens)

8. At least 4 Ancient Ones will be worshipped by Cultists

9. We will finally get an Ancient One with Magical and Physical Immunity

10. We will see defence combinations in Ancient Ones that we have yet to see (Phyiscal Resistance+Magical Immunity and Magical Resistance+Physical Immunity)

Add yours and feel free to comment to mine!

1. They're not. People have scoped out the board in some pics, and there weren't all that many. Besides, that wouldn't be a good idea and would make investigations harder. You wouldn't want to outshine Dunwich in number of unstable locations, too.

2. I'd actually bet closer to almost all of the locations and streets are aquatic.

3. That's my hope. Black Goat is hella lame.

4. I hope so. Bokrug brings Beings of Ib, so that sounds like a spawn condition if I've ever heard one.

5. 30-something monsters in this expansion, so I'd bet on 2 or 3 Masks.

6. I'd bet my ass

7. I've thought about this. 14 had better have something to accellerate the track, and 10 had better not have such a thing, leaving Azathoth as the longest and Yig as the shortest. They are the hallmark extremes, after all.

8. I'd say at least 6.

9. Or at least some other weird combination: Physical immunity, Magical resistance. The double-immunity guy might be the 10-track one.

10. Oh. Didn't read this bullet yet.

"People have scoped out the board in some pics"

wha? are there pics of the board? WHERE?! otherwise, I don't know where you get your info from. I think it would only be fair if all locations would be unstable to balance the fact that all locations in kingsport are stable (dunwich: 50/50 stable/unstable; kingsport: 100% stable; innsmouth: 100% unstable)

edit: Here's my specualations of doom tracks length in ancient ones:

1x14

1x10

1x11

2x13

3x12

I remember seeing it though I can't recall exactly where. I believe it might have been when they first announced Innsmouth, you could see part of the board jutting out behind the box.

I don't want to know nothing... I want to be surprised!

are these... vortexes?!

OH MY GOD THERE'S A JAIL CELL THERE!!!!!!

Someone please freeze me and then unfreeze me when the expansion comes... I can't take it anymore!!!

There's not much reason to believe that there will be an imbalance in AO track lengths. If anything it would be one of each type, except 4 of them with a length of 12.

More likely it will be four 12s, and two 11s and 13s. But a surprise would be nice.

Here's a card that almost certainly has to be included with Innsmouth - Randolph Carter, most likely as an Ally. Carter appears in six Lovecraft stories, one of which (The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath) is central to Lovecraft's dream cycle of stories. The exclusion of Carter would be a huge oversight by FFG, since he's the most prominent recurring character in Lovecraft's fiction (well, human character, at least.)
