What would you like to see in future expansions?

By JoinTheDarkSide, in X-Wing

First off, I love the game and love theorycrafting the best possible squadrons, but my question is to the community: "What ships, upgrades, and mechanics would you like to see coming up?".

Ships: I for one would love to see a Rogue Shadow , TIE Aggressor, and YT-2400.

Mechanics: Buzz droids could be interesting if used properly. Using the "5" movement marker you could fire it ahead of you and your opponent only to have them fly right through the affected area.

Post your good ideas and lets see what everyone else thinks of them.

Since FFG has no rights to prequel stuff Buzz Droids would be out.

I want the Wild Karrde with Mara for sure!

I wouldn't say they have no rights to prequel elements. The seismic charges and the senator's shuttle (in the core set) are from the prequels.

Exactly what the relationship is, I can't say, but some elements from the prequels have appeared in the game.

Access to Flechette Torpedos and the Autoblaster for the Empire for starters

More non-rebel/generic crew

And although I am no fan of the original design: the Xg-1 Star Wing aka Assault Gunboat (thought last years I saw one heck of cool take on the design - it made the Assault Gunboat more like the the Lambda-Shuttle)

I'd like to see more cards like Flight Instructor and Predator that are more effective against low skill pilots.

Both the TIE bomber and the Firespray with Slave 1 title can use Flechette Torpedoes...

Access to Flechette Torpedos for the Empire for starters (to level the field of action denial even more)

Bombers and the Slave I can use the Flechette torp, bombers might even be the best carrier for it.

Just like seismic charges. They totally come out of the Slave I in the OT.(Just saying, they can probably manage Buzz Droids.)

Everything thus far in any FFG Star Wars game is from original trilogy or after. The senator's shuttle is a Corvette shuttle design that was around long before Ep1 in various RPG sourcebooks...as for the SCs again go back and read the old Westend Games sourcebooks from 20+ years ago. The Slave 1 had them as an option then.....almost like where Lucas got the idea for them in the 2 prequels. By the time frame this game is set in Buzz Droids were no longer in use....and were never used by either of the 2 factions in this game!

A line of unpainted models, no pilot cards or tokens, for the modelling community.

Both the TIE bomber and the Firespray with Slave 1 title can use Flechette Torpedoes...

I was not talking about having a Torpedo Slot but access to the card itself; Flechettes are currently exculsive to the Rebel Transport

I think a completely separated prequel expansion would be fun. I wouldn't want to see the two mixed but matching naboo star fighters vs the trade federations (that would give swarm a new name) would be fun.

Also maybe a rougue squadron expansion with Corran Horne.

Also maybe a rougue squadron expansion with Corran Horne.

Horn is in the E-Wing Expansion (according to ppl who examined the images more closely than I did) and all Civil War-era rogues are accounted for with the Rebel Transport, X-Wing Expansion and Core Set

Well there's another reason to buy that...

I think the E-Wing also has one.

Bounty hunter ships and kwing

Should we try to steer this away from specific ships and more into general ideas? Desired ship threads continually pop up all the time.

I want to see space platforms, specifically of the old XQ range from TIE Fighter. I think defend/destroy the space station could be good alternatives to the shooting matches expected out of Epic play.

Support for campaign maps would be pretty cool too, but I think that's further down the list.

I personally like the Rebel v. Imperial feel of the game, keeps the Star Wars feel straight up. I do feel like the YT-2400/Outrider, Assault Gunboat, and Missile Boat would round things out nicely. I know that shifts the numbers balance to the Imps but it would also grant them more diversity. Taken with the upcoming Z-95s, I think it would mix the meta up nicely.

That being said, would anybody really be disappointed if they stopped making new ships after that and then focused on creating:

- new pilots for existing ships

- new EPTS, secondaries, crew, etc.

- and then released "civilian" craft for scenarios / ubiquitous ships for both sides?

I know people want Black Sun's StarViper and a host of bounty hunters but that doesn't seem like a true third faction. A third faction needs to be grounded pretty equally against Rebels and Imps AND have enough diversity for it's own run of ships. Nothing else really has both those features. Instead of forcing a third faction to fit, which would require bending lore/fluff/stats, why not create "Scenario ships" that have no side but come with missions and extra upgrades that are eligible for both sides? This would allow for uglies, recognizable stand alone ships like the StarViper, and bounty hunters but render them a different tier of ships, not a whole new faction. They can function in scenarios just fine and maybe occasionally as an independent force but not get a dedicated faction which would soon run out of material. Add a tax like a loyalty modification card to cost independent ships into Rebel or Imperial lists as needed. So an independent ugly will cost 2pts to be used either as an Imperial or Rebel ally. Hound's Tooth has a cost for Imperials but won't help Rebels, or at least only at a wicked high price. Outrider could be the reverse for Imperials. Now you're "hiring" neutral ships. Combine that with alternate repaints for things like Wraith Squadron of existing ships and I think you'd have a good run.

I know we want the game to just keep spitting out new stuff but SW is limited after a certain point. Part of the allure is the old fashioned Rebel v. Imperial skirmish. If that gets lost it turns into a space combat game that happens to use a lot Star Wars ships. The fact of the matter is that, after wave 5 and those few I mentioned earlier, there aren't really anymore established ships and characters left. Can we respect that and focus on creating depth, rather than simply new ships for their own sake?

Justs my two cents of course.

Yup just get you some E-Wings.

Mechanic: What about a ship-mounted tractor beam that reduces the movement values the target can choose in the next round?

What about a Death Star printed play mat giving imperials the option to spend points on turrets

I'd like to get a physical model for the Senator's shuttle without having to pay exorbitant shipping prices from Shapeways.

Bossk in Hound's Tooth, Dengar in Punishing One, Dash Rendar in Outrider, and Zuckuss in Mist hunter (4 Lom as crew). I would also like an Ace Azzameen YT-1300 and Sabra title card.
