Anyone in the St Louis, Mo area?

By trustybroom, in X-Wing Organized Play

I'm a relatively new player in the STL area, specifically St. Charles. I'm looking for some regular people to play with. Right now I've only played games against my wife, who isn't really interested in playing.

So is there anyone out there who wouldn't mind a new opponent or who knows of an active place to play?

I hear there is a player with a large fleet at Wargamers Cave in Granite city on Weds. I haven't been able to make it up myself with my work schedule of late but I too have been looking to get in some games. I live in Wood River, IL.

Thanks for the info!

Wargamers Cave is a little bit of a trip from my house, but it's only about 15 minutes away from my work. (I work in downtown STL) I may have to check it out sometime soon. Maybe we could meet up there sometime for a game?

I would be up for that, I have a jacked up work schedule but I'm sure we could find time. Bear in mind that I am fairly inexperienced in the game but wanting to get better. I am gonna try to get that way in a few weeks and meet the gamer I mentioned, see how his schedule works as well

I'm pretty inexperienced myself, though I have a lot of ships. I've just been having a hell of a time finding people to play.

I'm in belleville and just getting started. I have a few ships but have only really played against my 10 year old. I'd be up for some competiton as well.

trustybroom,

I also live in St. Charles and am working on getting an open play/league started up in the St. Charles area. I just got into the game myself, but having run such things in the past I am willing to spearhead getting such a group going. I should hopefully have more information in the next day or so and will post a thread about it.

Actually that is something I am working on as well. I spoke with the St Charles Fantasy Shop Store Manager today and will be speaking with her again Thursday. The plan is to have it be Thursday nights since they don't have anything else competing on those nights

If you're in belleville, IL then check out fantasy books & games just down the road in Fairview Heights on Wednesday nights. We have a league with prizes currently going, feel free to come out.

Miniature Market typically holds a tournament the last Saturday every month. $5 entry free gets you pizza and a chance at a door prize with the top placers usually getting gift certificates.

I'm another St. Louis (city) player. I'd like to play more often, and occasionally have some time free. I probably couldn't be relied on for a weekly game night, but I'd certainly make an attempt to come occasionally if one was set up.

I am planning on being at the Miniature Market tourney this coming Saturday. Will be not only my first tourney but may be my first game outside of the few learning games I've played. I have no eectations on my performance, but just attending should be fun.

I know I would be fine with you showing up whenever you are able. Whether I or another get something going at the St. Charles Fantasy Shop I'll let you know what's up.

That would be great.

The Miniature Market tournament is a really good first tournament. At least it was for me. It was very laid back and friendly.

I agree it's a great atmosphere to get into tournaments. My first tournament was also at Miniature Market back in May. What lists were you running trustybroom? Curious if I played against you at one/both of the past two tournaments.

Glad to hear. Especially since the friend that is suppose to come with me isn't feeling well today and we may not get in some practice games.

The last one was my first one. I was running:

Omicron Group Pilot w/ Darth Vader

Kath Scarlet w/ Expert Handling & Mercenary Copilot

Maarek Stele w/ Predator & Engine Upgrade

Since I had no allusions of winning I wanted to run a fun list and it was indeed fun.

Just to update people, either northdownwest or myself should know something for game night at the St. Charles Fantasy Shop in the next week or two. So keep an eye out.
