So I missed this, not sure if anyone else did too. So in the transport preview it states that ties that fail to get out of the way of the transport will be destroyed. Does this only apply if the transport runs into a tie or if a tie runs into a transport?
Running through ties with the transport
The article does not say. Your guess is as good as mine.
The transport is supposed to hit stores next month. Can we wait that long?
Eitherway, I think that rule is ridiculous. Why should a situation that happens every game almost with regular sized bases(ships bumping into each other) suddenly cause one type of ship to be destroyed outright? Because the transport is big? Size really wouldn't be a factor at all in "real life" If you hit anything at the speeds that ships fly at you would be destroyed. Why make that rule now. Its just silly.

Because when you "bump" other small ships, you're not actually hitting them. You're flying over/under them, thus why you can't shoot at each other. I suppose the loss of action is because you're busy not hitting him.
As for the CR-90/Transport, they occupy a much larger portion of space, so it makes sense to me that you can't really "reflex" your way out of a collision like you can with against a fighter.
I think Khyros has a solid point on the "realism" front.
On the gameplay front, I suspect because the huge ships are so large, and so slow, it's relatively easy to park against them and never move, and either side could take advantage of this.
It's also probably a practical thing. The template for the huge ships doesn't look like it's very conducive to backing up after collisions, so it's far easier to say "Okay, just pull all that crap off the board, elephant belly flop incoming!"
You could block a huge ship indefinnately because its base is so large you could force it to never move or only give it landing spots on the rocks.
I would be disappointed if the transport received no damage for that maneuver. It is a little broken that one ship gets destroyed, potentially from full hull, and the other gets no drawbacks to what is essentially a ramming tactic.
It is a ramming tactic. But the transport is not very mobile. Evading it should pose no trouble whatsoever.
Imagine a bucket-wheel excavator trying to ram a van. The van should escape easily.
FFG hasn't disappointed me yet so I'm GUESSING here but the transport should take some damage if not all to prevent abuse.

it seems like the damage should go both ways like a kamikaze
There are several instances, from memory in ROTJ, of small fighters running into - and being instantly destroyed - against the Nebulon Bs and the bridge of the Star Destroyer, during the Battle of Endor.
There's no instance, that I recall, of any ship-to-ship collisions. Even Biggs didn't physically affect Luke's X-Wing when he got all 'sploded.
Since the transport has no primary it seems fair. The transport and some ion cannon Y's could be fun. Ion them and ram them.

Well... there's Backstabber clipping Darth Vader's wing when Han shoots Mithel (or does he shoot Backstabber and Mithel crashes into Vader?)
True, but the TIE/ln didn't explode from hitting Vader, he flipped off into the wall, then exploded in a legendary display of piloting skill.
I'm also guessing it's not an automatic thing. I will venture a guess: When the transport/huge ship hits you, you roll 3 attack dice and the ship you hit suffers the result. If another ship hits a huge ship, roll 1 attack die and suffer the result.
Therefore, if it hits a TIE fighter, it is POSSIBLE to destroy it outright, but highly unlikely. In this situation, any ship that it hits would likely sustain 1-2 damage.
Just my thought. No real grounding for it, but it seems like a way they could handle it based on how other collisions and obstacles are handled.

The transport perview did say destroy. It didn't mention if it damaged the transport as well so that may be possible but I doubt it.
It shouldn't be hard to stay out of the front flight path of the transport with nimble Tie Fighters. It will be kind of silly that if the Tie bumps the transport it gets destroyed. I hope that's not the case.
The Transport is big; but Space is bigger.
The Transport is slow; but the starfighters are fast.
If two little starfighters swooping around at supersonic speeds don't slam into each other then surely they have the speed to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge out the Transports way. Being so big and instantly noticeable as it slowly crawls towards them, surely nobody can fail to notice the Transport.
hehe, it makes me think of an amusing scene I saw in a movie once.
I'm going to think of that every time someone gets destroyed by a Transport.
Screw it...new list idea for epic tourney list.....4 transports with EU done!

"Transport is slow" in comparison to the interceptors, fighters, bombers etc that are zooming around. It's getting late here so probably didn't explain properly.
Too busy laughing at the steam roller scene.

Yes, but pilots fly at human perception levels. If a transport is coming at you head on there's no juking you can do to avoid getting hit.(Granted I have yet to see anything Star Wars that realistically handled the speeds spaceships supposedly move at. Because frankly, you would never physically see the ships. But mentally picturing such things is, for lack of a better word, really trippy. So I see why they don't. I mean, try to visualize an object at 19800 mph. Your eyes see at 30 Frames per second, meaning you would see the object at 30 points in a second, each of which is 288 meters apart. Most likely all you'd see would be a big very faint gray blur, if anything at all."Transport is slow" in comparison to the interceptors, fighters, bombers etc that are zooming around. Ah, now I get it. Thank you for explaining.
