This is something ntersting I found on the net. In the last half of 2013 GW lost 24% of the market. What's more some talk started that they are ging out of Finecast. I do not know how much it will effect the market but I wonder if it's a start of a slow fall of a gigant? If yes, do You think that there's a chance that FFG could buy them out or has the controling package of GW and become the owner of Warhammer licence? If such thing would happen it would mean FFG could create what they want for Warhammer Fantasy and 40k settings. What's more they could also produce miniatures and a lot more. I think that is a interesting thought.

Lately GW official site changed a lot - there's no news section just the store. Is this a bad sign or a sign of changes into good direction?

PS. I do not wish GW so bad but it would be a wonderful news for me if FFG would become the owner of Warhammer licence so that they would have free hands to create what they want from card, board, RPG to miniatures even.

If gw needs to sell ( this is a big if ), then you can trust me on this. There are a LOT of bigger players than ffg out there, that want to buy the warhammer license.

I hope that FFG would be the 1st offer to purchase. As other bigger players (imho) would really buy it for the namesake prestige and lay it out to waste!!! It'd be a total shame!

GW is still going strong in Q2 2014, especially after they changed to their Micro transaction/pay to win model, for 40K as well as the Black Library with all the mini (eBook) releases.

As long as there are fans of the universe and/or models willing to throw a ton of money after that and the continually new releases, they will exist.

GW are still making sizeable profits! They will have to look at their revenue streams, which are too dependant on licensing. If GW was to be sold, I doubt that FFG would get a look in. More likely somebody like Hasbro would buy them out. However I am not saying that either FFG or Hasbro buying GW would be a good thing, as I suspect neither would understand the WFRP universe well enough to make a good fist of owning it.

I don't think there will be any corporate take over anytime soon.

It was only profits that were down about 12%. This led to a 24% drop in the price of their shares, as investors panicked. I was surprised too at the time, but they will make sure this is just a blip in their financial history.

As a company GW still has an approximate net worth of £23 million. That's 6 zeros.

And the GBP is a very strong currency. With all due respect I doubt FFG has that kind of cash available as liquid assets.

What I have read about Finecast seems to suggest GW are limiting it's purchase to Online only. Therefore they can check the piece thoroughly for imperfections before it ships. I believe it's so they can be more heavily involved in quality control.

Doesn't surprise me at all.

The prices for GW products keep raising up and up and up, year after year.

Also the move to Finecast was the worst choice they have ever made (it's ultra expensive).

It also annoys me that they keep releasing new edition rulebooks while some of the codexes or army books weren't updated to the most recent/previous edition.

It's been a mess, and always will be a mess.

And let's not even talk about GW's ForgeWorld.
