Blount - The anti-swarm.

He's also going to make running a Stealth Device pretty much a waste of points if you happen to be against him and can't kill him first.

Not likely. Most ships that carry a Stealth Device are way more maneuverable than Blount. Biggest exception is a lot of people play Stealth Devices on Howlrunner and Biggs, that may change because they typically have to Joust. Interceptors, A-wings, Backstabber, Vader, they can call easily make attacks from behind Blount. Blount is good, but no game-changer.

Blount is good, but no game-changer.

The Z dial isn't that bad, and there's a lot of space in which you can declare an attack even if you know there's no real chance of hitting.

I don't think Blount will stop people from using SD's but if you see a lot of him, you may see fewer SD's out there.

I agree. The Z has a pretty similar dial to the X-wing. It won't be hard to get a way more maneuverable craft into his LOF. All he has to do is get an squint into his sights at range 3. You can just hang him back a bit or use him to counter flank and strip SDs.

The best effect of his ability is a one-off. The Assault Splash and Ion Pulse are much worse than the SD issue. I really doubt the Stealth Device bonus will change much on the list-building side, especially for the Empire. It is used relatively sparingly as-is. as will be Blount.

If you could have sideboard pilots to swap in when needed, Blount would be a staple, that's for sure.

But main list? He has his uses, sure.

Very true.

I have a 6 Z-95 list in mind that includes him and some assault missiles. But other then a list in which something like Assault Missiles are a factor, I don't expect to see him a ton. For only 2 points more Airen is a better option all around.
