Dark Curse defending against Marksmanship

By PureScotch, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So some fellow players and I got into a confusing situation about how to resolve and attack from Han Solo on Dark Curse while trying to use the Marksmanship action card. The player defending Dark Curse made the argument the attacker cannot use eye icons on the dice as hits as dictated by the card Marksmanship. But isn't Marksmanship a dice modifying card and have nothing to do with a player trying to use "focus tokens" as is the wording on the Dark Curse card?

Thanks!

Marksmanship and Focus are two separate actions. Dark Curse prevents you from spending focus tokens or re-rolling defense dice. The Marksmanship action is different than the focus action, even though it affects the focus icons on the dice. And, of course, modifying dice is not the same as re-rolling them.

I'm gonna say that Dark Curse prevents you from "spending focus tokens, or re-rolling attack dice."

Marksmanship isn't doing either of these things.

And its probably the first time it wasn't me that got ninja'd.

Nice meeting you yesterday.

There's a reason Dark Curse HATES Marksmanship. Jax will be the same way. Using Marksmanship and spending a Focus token may have similar effects but they are still different.

Thanks for the input.
