Which way should I buy to expand the fleet?

By Rasconzo, in X-Wing

I currently have 5 Tie's and 3 X-Wings from getting two core sets and a single expansion of each. I want to get 2 more Ties and at least one more X-Wing. I'm curious if it would be bet to get another core set or just individual expansions..? I know the differences are going to be the cards, but still being new I know know which way is better.

Also.... I only have one Hawk, Y-Wing, Tie Bomber and Tie Advance. Which ones should I consider getting more of and why?

Thanks!

Rebels: Get two or three b-wings if you want tankiness and flexibility, another Y-wing if you want ion turret control, and A wings for Push the Limits and fast flankers.

Imperials: Interceptors are ridiculously fun to run. They take some learning, as they're as squishy as a tie fighter yet nimble as an a-wing with a built in boost. I would get one of them and imp. aces.

As far as the big ships go they're all fun, pick your favorite and grab it up

Since you already have the expansion for both the TIE/Fighter and the X-Wing, there is little need to buy more expansions. The sole exception that I'm aware of would be the R5 Astromech (not R5-K6 which is unique, so you don't need another) from the X-Wing expansion but that's dubious at best. So another core set is slightly more cost effective. There won't be much you use from the 3rd core set except the ships AND cutting down your 3rd range ruler to be just a range 1 ruler (most handy!).

I already have 2 A-Wings, 2 Tie Interceptors and the Imperial Aces set. More curious which is best (core vs. expansions) and if there is any point in having more Tie Bombers, Tie Advances and Hawks since I only have one a piece.

Those 3 are probably a good case of: don't buy unless you really want to try some atypical lists. Or, if you are like me, you can't stand the idea off solo ships. Well, the bomber is probably your best bet for more out of those 3, but not until you want to fly multiple bombers.
