BH + IC + Rebel Captive + Proton Bomb. Is it any good?

By polmoneys, in X-Wing

I've been playing rebels for a while now and found a nice squad I love to fly yet until new toys are available I plan to fly imps a few times and regain the joy for some squad building and flying ships for the first time. How good is BH + IC + Rebel Captive + Proton Bomb? in my mind works as follows:

enemy shot BH, receives stress

BH use IC back

BH moves pass target after dropping PTB and fires with back arc

Any suggestions on whom to fly it with will be appreciated...TIA

It's kind of a one-trick pony to me. It's 44 points for that, and all you seem to be aiming for is a bomb shot. That's an awful expensive way to try to deal two points of damage (IC & PTB) to someone, not counting the other possible primary weapon shots after. The set-up for the shot could be a pain too, getting them just to the right distance and angle for everything to work just right.

I'll admit it'd be amusing just to see the look on your opponent's face and that could possibly be worth it, but it just feels like a lot of mis-spent points to me.

A natural add-on to it would just be 4 BSP flying along side, to mini-swarm with it. Granted, if you wanted to be a total ass about it and rub it in their face, add in two Scimitars both with PTB and one BSP along side.

The ultimate in annoying could be to use to two OGP + IC + APL + FCS and be ultra annoying if you could get them stuck in front of you for a turn or two. You may need new people to play against after if you successfully pull that one off though.

Try a prox mine on for size. If you are flying right at them and drop it in their face, it is hard to avoid. High PS helps. It also works well to drop between a couple of asteroids to jam up their path. It only damages one target, but typically does more damage, and you can. Still shoot them from your rear arc as you slide away.
