Force User Synergy

By robmox, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Which careers and specializations have you found that synergize best with force powers and force users?

I was thinking something along the lines of Bounty Hunter/Assassin, Force Sensitive Exile, Force Move. You can throw starships at people, quickdraw a blaster and shoot them, or pull the pins on the grenades they happen to have in their belt. What are your ideas?

Enforcer + Sense to upgrade difficulty of attacks against the character. I'm dying to play it :)

Why not Marauder and Sense? Marauder seems tougher than Enforcer.

I would think a Politico w/ Influence has to be pretty wicked.

Why fight at all when you can make everyone your best friend...

I like the Fearsome and Intimidating talents.

I've been having quite a lot of fun with a Smuggler/Scoundrel/Force Emergent character that's got Sense (slowly moving up the Ongoing Effect side of the power) and Move (basic power only), having to be both judicious and creative in using the later (which I've been able to do on a few occasions)

Then again, I'm probably weird in that I enjoy playing a PC that's not a stone-cold badass that can crush adversaries with the Force right from the start.

That said, I could see a Hired Gun/Enforcer/Emergent with the Enhance power (particularly the skill-affecting Control Upgrades) being a downright fearsome combatant with just their bare hands.

Might make a pretty good basis for a Warden of the Sky, really.

I'm currently playing a Commander:Squadron Leader/Force Sensitive Emergent, have the Ongoing Sense powers, a little in Move and a few powers from the Influence tree.

He's a lot of fun to play - as the group's face/pilot/leader he gets to talk to their contacts, make deals, pilot the ship and helps in firefights as he can.

Once he honed his Sense to get the defensive ongoing power, he became a pretty decent defensive pilot; couple that with a rank in Defensive driving as well as upgraded shields and enemy ships have a harder time whittling us down as fast as they once did.

His next purchases will be in Field Commander and Command to help support the crew/party.

Any way the force could help a medic/doctor?

I've had a lot of fun with a Rodian Smuggler taking Sense (just the left side tree), Enhance (Agility tree) and a little bit of Influence. Hard to kill, great shot/pilot and can be a smooth talker.

I think the Doctor Velociraptor build also benefits a lot from being Forceful, again with Sense + Enhance.

Sense makes everyone have better survivability. The Talents that give free Boosts once per session. Enhance Brawn to make Pressure Point nastier.

If you like them you must have some good ideas on their use which I would love to read. I like the concept of the Enforcer, I was just not thrilled with the execution looking at the talents, and those in particular, as to how they are used.

Sorry, I don't think I have any good idea mechanically. I just like the idea of someone having to make a Fear check the first time they engage you, I think it captures the concept of a bouncer or "enforcer" type really well. First rank isn't that effective, granted, but if it works on a minion or two then great. Give a truncheon to complete the picture. But I don't get to play that often, and so far I've only been a GM, and the Enforcer character I made wasn't really suitable for a game I will hopefully be a player in soon, so...I guess I'll have to wait.

Gotcha. It seems like the devs want fear to play a big part and yet mechanically it seems rather tepid to me. I don't expect something that is a simple incidental automatic effect to be game breaking, but for the investment of the 3 talent slots I'd like to see more than the potential of adding a setback die as the result.
