Oh, and one more dumb question. How do you do it without voice? Is it a lot of typing in chat? I've played on vassal a bunch with friends only (hence the pick-up game question), but we've always had voicechat. Is that not usually the case with strangers?
X-Wing Galactic Cup Registration
The X-Wing vassal community is very active with anywhere from 5 to 15 players on most nights. I rarely have a problem getting a pick up game and the community is very helpful to new players online. I generally just use the Chat function in Vassal for my games, but I know a lot of players who do Skype/Google chat/etc to do voice chat while playing. It's really just what works best for you.
So here's the question, what's the strategy with two lists?
Do you counter your own list or have maneuver list and a joust list?
How do you pick two lists?
All interesting questions.
SQUAD BUILDING UPDATE: I will be using the new Tournament and FAQ rules for this event. I will update the OP with the new information.
Hi,
I bet this is going to sound real stupid but could someone in the UK take part ?

No dumb questions. This is a world wide tournament, so your totally welcome. I have several players from the UK already signed up.
Having issues with the registration, I have fired off the email with the email address I used to register but it seems I am still waiting for the ability to create a Team Covenant username.
10 day countdown, I still have more testing to do! See you all on vassal this weekend!
I registered. I may send another email or two switching up my squads, but I should be in!
OK, I'm officially in. Can't play my first game until May 5th but that shouldn't be a problem.
Edited by Veldrin1 Week left to pick your squads and register. Looks like it will be a good turn out.
For those who still want to register, It appears that the TeamCovenant site is having some issues with creating new users. They are working on the issue. Please send me your info even if you aren't able to create a TC account.
Registration is coming to a close soon and ends this Sunday Night. So far we have over 60 players signed up from 10 different countries. I know lots players who are having some squad paralysis, so both of these numbers should go up. If you are having issues creating an account at Team Covenant then send me your Vassal or FFG user name instead.
Just sent in my registration. Could you put up a list of who sent theirs in a day or two before closing, so we know you got our emails?

That sounds like a good plan. I try to respond to everyone to let them know that I got their email, but I'm sure I've missed some.
Well tonight decided it for me. Went 0-4 on vassal against 3 opponents. Over the past 2 weeks I think I've won maybe a third of my games. Even overall I'm MAYBE like 50/50 since I started using vassal last fall.
Maybe next tourney I'll finally join in if I can win more consistently on there. Until then I'll stick with store tourneys where I know I can do well. Plus the next couple months are really busy for me so maybe it's a good thing not to join up.
I've been going on and figured out how to setup a squad and move things around the map, but can't seem to get the hang of how taking turns and rolling dice work. Guess tonight I should just drop down into the general channel and ask for help rather than being the guy too stubborn to pull over for directions.
@Souladin
Almost everyone who plays vassal will be willing to help you learn by playing a game. It's really pretty easy to learn, by the end of the first game you'll be good to go.

There's a lot of nice players who will be happy to help you out. Also there's some new tutorials out there that can walk you though a lot of the ins and outs of the interface.
Todays the last day to register for this event. Currently there are over 100 players signed up, and I expect around a dozen more players at least to sign up. Get your info into me ASAP.
Edited by mrfroggiesWe have reached the 120 player goal for the grand prize support. This tournament will be even larger then the one at Worlds last year, and with a more countries represented. Thank you everyone who signed up.
In case anyone missed it, the Cup is underway over at Team Covenant. Check out the details and divisions at the link below. We are still waiting for some players to register at Team Covenant so that we can organize games (are you there, zinspire?).

After seeing who would probably be in my division, I'm glad I didn't join up now, yikes.
Final Player count is 144 players split into 24 divisions. There are 20 different countries represented.
