Any luck with "Heroes and Legends" objective mechanic?

By CooMasterCoo, in Star Wars: The Card Game

Just interested to hear any stories about this topic for the next Star Wars TCG podcast. Have you used the mechanic in any interesting ways, unconventional or in a klucth situation? Here is a post from our FB. https://www.facebook.com/starwarstcg

Thanks guys!

Thanks man I'll look into it!

I've been running and I love it, I had 2 of the objective out a kyle on the board and 2 kyles in hand, what was fantastic since I got to strike with him 3 times in one turn :)

The objective also works wonderfully with the Aluminum falcon

Best rename ever. You win.

I haven't gotten the chance to practice with it yet; been really busy, but I'm going to try to get in a few games against myself this weekend and see what happens.

May have just screwed my LS deck up. I've had success with...

A Hero's Journey (2)

Heroes and Legends (2)

In You Must Go

The Secret of Yavin 4

The False Report (2)

Across the Anoat Sector

Renegade Squadron Mobilization

But I took out Renegade and In You Must Go with Forgotten Heroes (2)

I seem to draw Heroes and Legends every time so I'm willing to take this chance until next week (when I believe the next FP is coming out) It's not the Obi Wan I really want (Really reaction wise) but I do not want to buy another expansion so...... I'm going with this so to focus out ready units. We shall see its success.

I think the best thing about the objective is the fact that it makes focusing down Character units very difficult if you are running multiples. I think overall the whole OSet is a little slow, but it is still pretty early in its use.

This. Just quite slow. Also, many Jedi objective sets come with enhancements, whose usefulness significantly decreases if you plan on swapping out characters with the H&L ability.

I've found myself using the objective to swap Kyle/Luke/Han, then stacking enhancements on Yoda (or the guardians).

Also I think this might make Knowledge and Defense more useful for pulling those Enhancements back into your hand.

With 1 cost enhancements being free I've had a lot of fun putting a free lightsaber on luke even though I plan to swap him just because the extra t-strike damage is worth it. If adding an extra damage to luke allows you to t-strike out an Emperor, Vader, Jerec etc, it's totally worth it. Same goes with Han's blaster.

Luke is fun in that you can attack with him and the lightsaber, bring him back on your opponents turn, defend with him and swap him to really nail down a defender.

One trick I noticed no one mentioned is this: play a Kyle/Luke, commit to the force to win the force struggle on your turn. You can then either swap out that unit on the dark side players turn for defense without worrying about double focus or you can swap them out for attack on your next turn.

I like that a lot. Finally, a way to utilize Luke's Force icons outside of edge battles.

Luke can still be commited to the force otherwise, he is just easier to lock down with tactics and he isn't available for your defense.

Provided you can remember his reaction every time, he is a pseudo-elite unit.

It's been discussed a lot but a turn 1 Kyle with a H&L flip can really mess with your opponent.

Combos such as

-Discard Wolfman

-Play Kyle focus one unit

-Attack possible destroy another unit

-Swap kyle, and focus another unit or double focus the first.

-Commit to the force and bring the wolfman into play.

It's really fun.

Switching committed Kyles in and out also sounds like a good way to keep the Force without having to worry too much about double focusing, yes?

Yup, double focusing a committed, or if the DS over extends with a committed Vader/Palp to turn off a "While this is undamaged..." objective.

I consistently either had the objective without duplicate characters or had duplicate characters without the objective. However, when it does click it's a magical moment. I think the objective and it's cards are very appropriately balanced. Very useable and powerful when it hits, but not as consistent as I'd like it to be.
