TIE Defender spoiler article is up

Here it is: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4740

And here's that white K-turn! It's a 4-speed:

Outmaneuver is an EPT that's basically Wedge's ability, but you have to be outside the opponent's firing arc:

Predator gives rerolls to EVERYONE who has an EPT slot, which seems ... like power creep to me:

The pilot cards (no spoiler of Onyx Squadron Pilot!):

Predator EPT seems interesting.

Lots of spoilers here…

(EDIT: Danthrax is putting the images in the OP, which is a better place for them!)

Predator EPT seems interesting.

Yeah. More anti-swarm tech, but (honestly unlike, e.g., Flight Instructor) added on to an effect you'd want anyway. It's like Krassis' pilot ability, but for anyone with an EPT and on any attack. That's nearly as good as a free Target Lock, but with no stress... I think I like this on Royal Guard Pilots in the new stress meta.

Thanks for the share!

It's not a full TL (can't be used to fire secondaries), and if you roll 2+ blanks you're still hosed. So it's comparable to PTL, in a way: it gives you an attack buff in addition to your normal action; it's nominally less powerful, of course, but no stress. Seems okay to me.

EDIT: Oh, and I think one good candidate for Colonel Vessery's best friend will be Omicron Group Pilot + Fire Control System + Weapons Engineer + ST-321.

EDIT2: So Brath needs to have Focus all the time, and also needs a way to help make sure he hits without spending the Focus token. Predator is an obvious choice; Predator + HLC will be extraordinarily expensive at 47, but you don't want to be in his arc once he's cut through your shields.

Predator looks amazing. I can't wait to try that! I'll try to find room in just about any squad for that.

Brath looks cool. The other guy, not so much. I don't feel like the Defender is going to pan out incredibly well, as I've said before, but it's not as bad as I'd feared. Seven points for 7 PS, a decent ability, and EPT could work... Predator is beasty though.

Outmaneuver - the card every turret hater has been waiting for.

I like it on just about everyone. Why would you not want to reroll attack dice?

I like that the Defender is a strafe style, rather than another close-in dogfighter. It'll be a right ***** to shake when it gets you lined up in it's arc.

Wedge + Predator = -2 agility on targets that can't hit you back. Ouch.

It's obviously important that Vessery gains a TL immediately after attacking but help me out, this means he can gain and use a TL if he fires on somebody already targeted?

Because you have something in particular you want to be able to do with your second action other than pseudo-TL, or because you can't afford +3 points.

I just think it's nice to see some serious competition for PTL, as I think both of these talents will be!

That's how it reads to me. Roll, get the TL if applicable, use the TL to modify reroll.

Yeah. If someone else has a TL on his target, he gets a TL he can use for that attack. He's going to be making lots of TL+focus attacks, which frees his EPT slot up for something tricky like Adrenaline Rush or Outmaneuver… and at PS6 he's going to be nasty. Maybe still at the outer edge of the cost envelope, but it will definitely take table time to figure it out.

Outmaneuver on Interceptors doe <3

Outmanuever and Ion will be fun. If the defender had one speed it could walk ships off the board... Good thing it doesn't combo with Ion turrets...

I find it interesting that all the green maneuvers are straight forward.

OM on the Falcon...

I'd just like to point out that the only way to get a copy of Predator will be to buy a TIE Defender, so ... pony up, everyone.

At least Outmaneuver will be in the E-Wing, too.

And here I was only going to buy two Defenders... Well, time to reassess.

It occurs to me that Outmaneuver on a ship with a white Koiogran is going to be really powerful. If I threaten to K-turn behind you, you have two unpalatable options: get your action but lose a defense die, or K-turn to face me and keep the defense die but lose your action.

I just think it's nice to see some serious competition for PTL, as I think both of these talents will be!

Outmaneuver seems like a natural fit on Interceptors. Anything with turrets tends to be low agl to start with so this would go a long ways to making them more effective against something like the YT.

Especially with all the stress tech the Rebels are getting. I figured going without PTL might be a good idea, now with these two EPT's I think you have some really good non-stress EPT's.

I don't think Predator is power creep. It's still 3 points for a EPT that allows 2 rerolls but only against PS2 or lower pilots against anything else it's only 1 die, which is nice but isn't exactly over powered.

That Predator card.... looks like this Rebel is buying a Defender!
