Is 60 minute rounds the norm?

By DarkFather, in X-Wing

I've just been made aware that rounds for the Regional in my area may very likely only be 1hr in length.

I prefer to play Imperials for X-wing. Should I expect an overabundance of high-shielded ships (B-wings, Falcons, etc)? If this is the case, how best would I go about defeating such lists in a 60 minute time frame, using Imperial craft?

My planned list (since Aces wont be legal) will most likely be the same list I took to our SC.

OGP + FCS + Gunner + EU

Dark Curse (or maybe Backstabber)

Turr Phennir + VI

2x Academy Pilot TIE/ln

Cheers

Turr generally won't need VI. Would consider cutting it for PTL.

The specified "normal" round length for tourneys is 75 minutes. However, the rules do give leeway for the TO to change that down to 60 or up to 90. I have never seen the latter invoked.

Because of the large number of participants expected at the regionals, I would not be surprised to see some of them go to 60 minute rounds.

Also, do not assume that Aces won't be legal for regionals. I suspect that now that store championships are over, there will be an update to the tournament rules that will allow Aces to be used.

EDIT: I just saw you are in Australia. I know the regionals there are happening pretty quickly, so my comment about Aces legality may be inaccurate. In any case, good luck!

My regionals for X-wing are on June 14th. Not 'that' much earlier than elsewhere, is it?
