Vader choke bus

By Dm1012, in X-Wing

I recently played against Vader in a Lambda. My opponent played it in such a way that he claimed he could use Vaders choke after any ship performed an attack. Having re-read the card it does say after an attack on an enemy ship you may suffer two damage to cause a critical hit.

I always thought that it had to be the Lambda that performs an attack and this certainly seems (IMO) that it is the intent of the card.

Any help here would be appreciated! Before I'm starved of oxygen!!!

No. If that were the case, Mercenary Co-Pilot, Gunner, and Navigator would work the same. Things would get broken pretty fast.

The better answer is on pg19 of the rulebook under 'Card Abilities'.

"Many card abilities use the word “you” to specifically reference that Ship card. Abilities on Ship cards cannot affect other ships unless explicitly specified by the ability."

No, it has to be the Lambda's shots. The Lambda doesn't have to hit, so it combos nicely with Gunner, but the Lambda does have to shoot.

You've gotta wonder how long the Lambda lasted with Vader choking every Rebel in sight.

Your opponent, strong with the Dark Side, he is...

I'm sorry I...

I just pictured a bunch of happy Imperials boarding a bus with Vader in the back. And they know why they're there.

And they're just so happy about it. Ecstatic, even.
