seems about perfect if you ask me... yeah 65 plus shipping is a bit steep, but i paid nearly that much for my Corsec engineering mat, and quite frankly i aint all that impressed with it...

I have seen some of the Frontline 4x6 warhammer mats in person and they are VERY nice. If I hadn't already gotten a couple of space mats for myself I would definitely be going with theirs.
The problem that strikes me right off the bat is that it's a 4'x4' mat, when X-Wing is played on a 3'x3'
.
Aside from that...it looks nice, but man , that seems really expensive to me. Are most commercial mats that much? I made my own with some fabric and paint, and the mats down at my FLGS are $20 each (one guy that came to a tourney had got ahold of some images of nebulae and whatnot and had them printed on vinyl, then sold them to the owner).
I'd like the mat more if it included a 3'x3' outline for normal X-Wing games. I don't have the mat itself, but sure would like to see how it works for the game.
The frontline ones are basically really big mouse pads, something like 1/2" thick and made from the same material, so this is a couple steps up from most others.
That said, It is entirely possible to get some space-scape fabric at Jo-Ann's or something and have a good looking play surface for $5.
$65 for that? Yeah....someone's getting taken for a ride.
I did a 3 x 6 foot banner for $32
i have built fabric mats, foam core trifold board mats, even purchased a "REAL" mat.. as well as purchased my own neoprene to make a mat, and i even purchased the hcd Mat.. vinyl mats suck, they slide around and have a cross hatch texture to them and they don't lay flat, cloth/felt mats also slide around and bunch up and don't stay put unless you affix them to a solid surface with tacks or sticky tape.the foam core mat works good but is not very portable, but it is cheap..the home made neoprene one, well it looks home made and it wants to roll back up unless i put boards on its ends which actually looks pretty good as i painted them black..lol i don't mind paying for a product if it works good. BTW the HCD mat works great, i just hate the design that's on it.. as for the mat being 4'x4' i can see that being the new standard once the BIG ships come out.. besides it would be easy enough to demarcate a 3'x3' boundary.. Will do a full review once it comes in.. but if its anything like the HCD mat, it should be great.... besides I really cant think of anybody saying wooo man that mat is 4x4 i cant play on that...lol i don't really care about tournaments and if that's the case i would just use the HCD mat... or the ones provided.. Oh and as an added bonus a 4'x4' mat fits perfect on my dining room table... i measured it..lol yeah i am kind of OCD when it comes to mats!! besides if i wasn't spending my money on X-wing stuff i would be buying pressure treated lumber to rebuild my shed, and that's not fun at all!!

I wonder how well this mat would work for the new Epic rules coming out? Plus... this looks great for games of 150 to 250 points too.

flocked like a cheap piece of felt? you do get what you pay for, I could go to my local walmart and get black felt even cheaper.but I don't like fabric mats for the aforementioned reasons.besides the HCD mat I got for only 20 something and it works great...just don't like the design. but what ever works for folks..
