Shuttle Builds

By smonroe1980, in X-Wing

I really want to use the shuttle a bit more so tonight I am going to use it with an Engine upgrade, enhanced sensors, and either Recon Specialist or Rebel Captive.

Ill probably run Jax, Howl and academy pilots with it.

What are some of the good shuttle squads and builds you guys have seen?

THere's a good write up of the shuttle and tips on builds and how to use it here:

Sablegryphon has also done some really good write ups about it.

I personally like the buzzsaw shuttle set up with 4 academy TIEs and Howlrunner with swarm tactics.

Buzz saw build is good, but only if flown correctly. I think blocking your own shuttle is a pretty good strategy. Sable had excellent lessons on shuttle builds and using them well. Make sure your shuttle isn't your last ship standing or you are screwed.

1 list i'm itching to try is:

Carnor Jax - push the limit, stealth device [32]

Omnicron Shuttle Pilot - darth vader [24]

Howlrunner - swarm tactics [20]

2 x Academy TIE pilot [24]

Double Beef Royal and Wings:

RGP + PTL + shield

Omi + Vader

Omi+ AdvSens +engine

Mauler + wingman

I like to use

Omicron Group Pilot, Advanced Sensors, Engine Upgrade, Gunner. (33)

I often use 2 or even go all out with three of them.

It is a highly effective load out.

Bounty Hunter, Recon Specialist

NightBeast

Dark Curse

I have had some success with this build.

Engine Upgrade is required, unless you're running Lord Vader on board.

Adv. Sensors is nice with EU

FCS+Gunner is great.

HLC + Merc + Merc is great.

Rebel Captive is great.

Im going to try all these plus I got a few ideas from a podcast. Good stuff guys thankyou

Why would HLC + Merc + Merc be great? It does nothing...

My favorite shuttle is Kagi + Sensor Jammer + Rebel Captive. It breaks a lot of the fashionable shuttle build "rules", but it can seriously control a game.

HLC's de-crittening happens before any other dice modifications.

Merc Co-Pilots happen during the spot where Attackers modify dice (so interchangably with Focii and Target Locks).

HLC + 2xMerc = 4 Dice at Range 3, 2 of which will be Crits.

Ahh.

My mistake. I assumed the de-crits happened last.

Nifty!

here is the hyper mobile vanilla shuttlebus loadout:

omicron + adv. sensors + engine upgrade (28pts).

its fast, turns unpredictably, virtually never loses its action except the turn after it 'stalls' or sharp turns and can easily switch into blocker mode when needed. it wont deal as much early damage as the buzzsaw but over the course of a longer game it will reveal what a versatile ship it is and focus fire with a 3 attack dice ship is actually pretty good even wout any crew/upgrade cards to enhance it.
