I'm looking for prtective sleeves for the cards that I'm about to get with the core set and the expansion. What would be the best ones from this site?
Would just normal trading card sleves work or are they a different size?
Thanks for your help

MTG sleeves work just fine.
Fantasy flight provides the sleeves you need. For both the pilot cards and upgrade cards.

Seperate buy. FFG 'silver' and 'yellow' sizes.

Ah I see, Thanks haha
I love the FF sleeves. Nothing worse than sticky cards. They will be a little "slippery" when they're stacked, but better than messed up cards. 1 pack of each is more than enough for a core set.

alright sweet, Thanks
I'm thinking about getting one of their deck holders as well just for added protection haha
By silver sleeves you mean FFS05, for the Pilot Cards, correct?
I bought standard sleves Purple I think and they didn't fit.
So FFS05 are the ones I need for Pilots?
Have people really found card sleeves to be necessary? I play XWM probably more than the average gamer and have noticed absolutely no wear on the cards themselves (on the maneuver dials, yes but cards, no). They are even fairly water resistant. Since the cards basically just lie there on the table (you don't actually hold them in your hand, shuffle or deal them), how much wear and tear could they really be taking? Just seems like a waste of time and money and adds bulk thus increasing storage space/carry weight. I think they would be useful for custom made cards but just don't see it for the official cards (unless it fulfills some sort of OCD need for compulsive organizers/collectors. THAT I would understand

Haha I understand what you mean, I think they would last longer in my posession (I tend to have bad luck with things I buy and try to store and carry around with me) haha
They have Star Wars themed sleeves now. I have a couple of them.

do you have any kids or beer drinkers. I have an 11 year old who plays and friends who drink. Spills happen better to be safe than sorry.
Last Saturday, I spilled a Coke on my stack of upgrade cards. Most of them made it through. I still hate sleeves and would rather buy new cards than use them. I've got so many games that I'm actually glad when my game parts get all old and worn out. It means the game's been played instead of stuck on a shelf.
Maybe that's because I'm old and worn out myself.
I didn't have enought sleeves for my empire cards. I had like 20 that were unsleeved. It bugged the heck outta me. Went and picked up 2 packs of the FFG empire limited edition sleeves (the one with the AT-AT and the Stormtrooper with the orange shoulder) at 100 cards. Sleeved all my empire cards and I had 2 sleeves left over. Went back out and picked up a 3rd pack of 50 (cause I just know I'm getting wave 4 in multiples).
Love my original Movie Poster Limited Edition Art Sleeves from FFG!
The Empire Strikes Back for the imps, A New Hope for rebs.
They got that cheezy cool 70/80's look..!
Necessary? - Certainly not...
I have always used Mayday Games card sleeves without issue. I highly recommend their products. (Don't buy direct though, horrible shipping times!)
When I started playing X-Wing I saw the FFG Limited Edition Star Wars Art Sleeves and was hooked from the get go. So I thought I'd give them a try over Mayday. What a mistake! They don't look nearly as cool as they did on the FFG site. Also, despite the art sleeves being exactly the same size as the recommended FFG gray sleeves, 2 1/2" x 3 1/2", they are just too big. The X-Wing pilot cards have a good deal of float when sleeved in them and I prefer a much tighter fit. I'm not sure if the actually FFG standard gray sleeves fit better but I'd stay away from the art sleeves unless you love the aesthetics and don't mind if your cards swim in their sleeves.
I have had 2 of my Mayday sleeves rip, so I only use FFG sleeves now. But reading some of the comments, maybe it is a waste.
I wasn't sleeving anything until I had a close call with some Mountain Dew. And then, I noticed my damage deck was starting to look a bit frayed around the edges. So, I've spent the money and sleeved the lot.
Now, I'm trying a good storage solution for sleeved upgrade cards. I'd prefer a box of some sort rather than a binder. Any suggestions?

Guilty
LOL
I was playing with my daughter the other night. No food on the table. The only liquid was my coffee cup. Less than 4 square inches of "hazard" on a HUGE table, and where do I accidentally drop the dial...
I know they are not necessary but the rule of cool also has a factor in card sleeves.
I got them with a nice Star Wars back on them of Leia holding a blaster, what is more to like then hot chicks wielding guns :-D

I have both. I mean, I have kids and I drink beer, not that I have an 11 year-old with a drinking problem (actually, his favorite "toy" as a baby was an empty can of Guinness Stout- it rolls, it crinkles, it rattles-
thanks to the little nitrogen capsule-
and it teaches them about sharp edges
). I've spilled beer and or soda on them and, thanks to the fact that they are already gloss coated, they have shown little to no wear/stains. I'd actually be more concerned that if I spilled liquid on them sleeved, that some moisture would be drawn into the sleeve, thanks to capillary action. If it has proven worth it to you and helps you sleep more easily at night (or at least cringe less while gaming), then go for it. I'm still not seeing a need.
Now, a binder with collectible card pages to keep everything organized would be useful but my OCD manifests itself in other ways.
I got the Leia in a bikini sleeves for my rebel pilot cards. I didn't get them to protect my cards though, more rather so that I could have Leia in a bikini on them.
I believe that is the reason for many people to own that set of sleeves. It appears to be quite popular.
