'Bring it on.' A list to give Lady Luck something to think about... maybe.

By Euph3m1sm, in X-Wing

Here is a list I have developed that I hope will do some direct damage:

OGP with Darth Vader and Engine upgrade.

BH with HLC, saboteur and Proton bombs.

Kir Kanos

The shuttle is obviously one of those suicide shuttles. Having HLC on the BH is as close to a reusable missile as one can get at the moment, 4 dice attack at r2-3. Saboteur to try and flip a few hits to crits. Proton bombs for the crit should people get too close. Kir Kanos to use evade at long range to guarantee a hit.

If everything went in its favour this list could do a potential of 4 damage per round no matter what the dice rolls do:

1 crit from Vader, 1 standard hit from Kanos then saboteur changes that hit to a crit the 4 potential damage comes about if Vader scores the 'counts as 2' crit and fortune is being really co operative and allows the saboteur to flip one of the other 'counts as 2 damage' crits from Kanos's evade token attack, all during the same round.

We'll see what happens when I get to put it through its paces.

You might be better served changing the HLC to an autoblaster. The HLC requires a minimum distance of 2 while the saboteur onky works at range 1.

The hits off of the HLC can also be cancelled while those of the autoblaster can't.

If you change the engine upgrade to a gunner on the shuttle, for one point more you might end up using Vader twice in one round if I'm not mistaken (Vader not requiring hits and triggering after each attack).

You want people to stay close to the BH, and not too close to the shuttle, carrying a bomb is only going to scare them off. Let's put it back into storage for a second. Let's also bench Kir Kanos who you've put on the list because he's a guaranteed hit when attacking at a distance. This gives us 31 points to play with to see if we can further help the Lady.

If we call on Captain Jonus we can have him fly alongside the BH to augment the autoblaster, leaving the action of the BH free for the saboteur while still allowing for rerolls on the autoblaster, eliminating the need to focus.

Now we can give Jonus the bomb, and possibly something like a shield upgrade.

I think this list might work a little better to what you're aiming for, netting you possibly three crits in a round plus two or three hits, not even counting what the bomber might accomplish.

What about dropping some thing and giving Jonus Squad Leader to let your Sabo get another shot at a card?

Which means I might then go with Cluster Missiles and a Seismic charge.

Even better, either giving the sab another chance or giving a ship a focus it might need, versatility.

So, OGP with Vader and Gunner for at least 1, possibly 2 crits after attacking. The Bounty Hunter moves, uses the saboteur to flip something over (possibly twice, courtesy of Jonus), then attacks with the autoblaster, assisted by Jonus, who may or may not drop a seismic charge or launch some missiles (or both).

Thanks for the feedback, gives me food for thought; a few variations to try.

Saboteur is an action though…can't you only use each action once?

i think rec specialist with autoblaster on a firespray could be really good. will need to test that but u r getting 4 dice with eyes changing to hits that cant be avoided, thats gotta be some good, esp when krassis will let u reroll a blank.

the main disadvantage to running turret weapons on a firespray is they r useless from ur rear firing arc. compare this to gunner which costs the same as autoblaster and is 2pts cheaper than HLC which lets u take a 2nd attack if the 1st one misses EVERY time u fire regardless of using rear or forward firing arc :)

although none of my suggested squad uses this combo - i think kath + expert handling + autoblaster could be very dangerous as u can barrel roll into close range - this sint easy to do tho - id say u would get a chance to do this 2-3x per battle? still if u pulled it off u could swoop in for a killing attack that was impossible to avoid :)
