Yes, the Soontir Fel version of the Firespray is as awesome as it sounds. Take Kath or Boba, give them PTL and Recon Specialist, and you can get double focus plus evade for defense just like Soontir!

I find this is a major pain in the you know what for my opponents late in the game. Makes my firespray very hard to damage. Early on I prefer target lock plus double focus for the offensive output though.

You could technically do it on a named falcon with the MF title as well, but with 1 evade dice compared to 2 on the firespray it won't give you that much extra defense.

I've used Boba with PTL and an engine upgrade. It really shreds the opposition. you can use the boost to put your nose or tail into firing position, and you out of the enemies arcs. The only downfall is an opponent who knows how to block. Once they start denying you actions you are the one getting chewed on, and it is a lot of points wrapped up in one unit.

Q: Can a ship have more than one focus or evade token assigned to it?

A: Yes. A ship cannot perform the focus or evade actions more than once during a round , but a game effect (such as Garven Dreis’ pilot ability) may assign additional tokens to a ship.

So each round, we only use the focus ability once - on either attack or defense, but not both. We also cannot perform the focus on defense more than once. (ie: more than one ship attacking you)

If this is true, I'll have to re-think the value of Recon Specialist.

You've got what "Focus" does wrong.

Performing the "Focus" action (which can only be once per turn) nets you a single focus token (or two with Recon Specialist).

However, SPENDING tokens is NEVER an action. You can spend as many focii as you wish in a single turn, so long as you acquire them legally.

I think you are mixing "perform" with "spend":

With Recon Specialist (or Soontir/Garven) you are not "Performing" Focus twice; you are only performing it once BUT you get to assign an extra focus

Soontir: when you receive a stress token you may assign a Focus token

Garven: After spending a focus token you may assign it to any other friendly ship at range 1-2)

However you may spend just as many Focus tokens as you wish/have each round. No limitations (other than the number of Focus tokens you actually have)

I should also add that I really wish Krassis had an slot for elite ability. He's my favorite firespray pilot for sure.

Moldy Crow can theoretically have infinite, after infinite rounds.

A YT-1300 can theoretically have 5, if it's carrying two Recon Specialists (they stack) and flying alongside Garven Dreis and Kyle Katarn.

I should also add that I really wish Krassis had an slot for elite ability. He's my favorite firespray pilot for sure.

Big difference between Fel and a souped up Firespray, besides the enormous cost differential, is that the Interceptor dial has 7 green maneuvers to shed the stress. The Firespray has 4. It makes it much tougher to shed the stress, or at least far more predictable when doing so each round.

This is the reason why I never use PTL on firespray anymore. All my buddies have become excellent blockers and there simply aren't enough green options to shed that stress in addition to all the asteroids you need to avoid.

Ah! - Thanks for clearing that up guys.

I use ptl on the firespray mostly late in the game because of the few green maneuvers. Late in the game there are less ships to block you, plus you are shooting from the rear arc much more, which means you can just keep going forward a bit and keep clearing the stress.
