is bacstabber an underrater tie pilot

Backstaber: add a die outside a firing arc? No range limitation...I love that! However, nobody talks about him... when the swarm breaks down i think he rocks... if i had a pilot card on him, he would be on all my lists.

He's great, personally my favorite method of flying him is with dark curse as his wingman with Mauler and any other tie flying as a separate formation, Dark curse is squirrelly enough that it disinclines them from putting all guns on just those two, letting Stabber take his bonus, or they do turn on them and mauler has free reign.

I don't think he is underrated. Aside from Howlrunner his name comes up the most, his only real competition is Dark Curse. The ability to roll an extra attack die with such an easy requirement is a very solid ability, and at just 16 points and at PS6 he is an easy way to add both firepower and pilot skill to a list for a very cheap price.

I tend to see people bring up mauler slightly more often because of his high PS and ept slot, but Winged Gundark is the real redheaded stepchild of the named tie fighter pilots.

he is underrated. ive been using backstabber with omicron + kath scarlet + a single academy pilot.

hes a gr8 flanker - send him wide and in behind the enemy position.

I can't remember an imperial list I've flown lately that didn't have him in it. He's just so point efficient at bringing PS and Firepower to the game. I think he drew an aweful lot of hate not too long ago but I think people figured out he's only a tie. He has to be a bit of a priority target for opposing lists or he will just slay. He's kinda the master of the mid-game and not many pilots can say that (intial pass you might not get his bonus but rounds 2-3 you almost always do!).

Just remember to take opportunity shots with him and not necessarily use him to follow/chase.

He is played far too often to be under rated. He is a top 5 pilot IMO. His point cost for a 3 atk flanker is just great.

Second best tie pilot behind howlrunner IMO.

Just used him for the first time yesterday with Soontir, Lorrir and two Academy TIEs. I gave him an Engine Boost, which basically turns him into a PS6 Interceptor for 20 points.

Granted, I didn't win (was really stupid with Lorrir), but I still had fun with him.

I don't think he's underrated, as there are very few pilots rated more highly than him.

i used Backstabber tonight in 3 games with my Royal Pains in the *** list

Royal Guard + PTL + Hull upgrade x3

Backstabber

my opponents where mostly focusing on the Squints which allowed BS to just mosey to ppl blind spots, i think he dished out more dmg than the squints. He's great for his cost.

I love him, honestly. Cheaper and almost as effective as a Squint? Awesome. Not to mention he's one of those "who do I shoot first" pilots in many of the Imperial lists I run.

He nearly one shotted Carnor Jax for me today ( if only he didn't have an evade token ) and in my last game of the tourney put 3 hits and a crit into Han at point blank. I like using him.

I have a question about him, actually: how does backstabber's ability relate with a Firespray. Will he only get his boost to attack when coming in from the blind spot between the arcs?

Yes, against a Firespray, backstabber is side stabber. Note the yt1300 turret is not a fire arc.

It does. I don't have the exact wording in front of me but the turret doesn't alter the falcon's arc, it allows it to shoot outside of it, or something of that nature.

The falcon's primary weapon can shoot outside of its firing arc.

I love everything about Backstabber except for his lack of an elite pilot trait. I know, I know; Backstabber with an EPT would be way overpowered. Meh. I still think it would be fun. :P

The challenge of flying (and keeping) him behind your opponent is a lot of fun.
A single Tie fighter isn't very intimidating... especially when it flies off and away from the rest of your ships.

"Oh, I'll just take care of him later..."

- Backstabber's victims.

He is the ideal "training wheels" Interceptor. Fly him like a squint, but if he gets KO'ed it's not an auto-loss
