I want to run some Bomber Builds. Does anyone run one??
Here is a preliminary...
Jonus+ Proton Bomb+Clusters+Clusters
Scimitar+Protron Bomb+Clusters+Clusters
Alpha Squadron TI

Well Jonus doesn't get his own benefit on secondary attacks, so having him have two missiles simply isn't that good.
Additionally the proton bomb on the Scimitar isn't going to be too effective, because his low PS means he'll move first, and other targets are likely to boost or barrel roll out of the way.
Also as a thought, you could swap out one of those interceptors for Howlrunner. It would give your bombers some better attack even after ordinance is spent, and might be more worth it than the interceptor.
Consider this:
Alpha Squadron Pilot (18)
Major Rhymer + Cluster Missiles + Deadeye + Proton Bombs (36)
Captain Jonus + Proton Torpedoes + Seismic Charges (28)
Howlrunner (18)
I've swapped an interceptor for howlrunner, and given each bomber only a single secondary attack. Jonus will do better with the proton, IMO, and Rhymer will do much better with a cluster, since he can make it range 3. Howlrunner makes up for the bombers only having 1 missile, because their basic attack will now be a little more effective. Also, Deadeye on Rhymer allows him so much more freedom, and having Jonus means he doesn't really NEED to be focussed.
I run this squad a lot although there is only one bomber he is a key part of it, using him to target lock/focus the same turn while transferring stress to yorr gives him an ability to shoot APT from range 2, usually landing 5 hits each shot, with Yorr is great for picking up the PTL stress and then picking up the stress from both Vader and the Bomber doing a K-Turn after the alpha strike, used it against multiple squads won everytime with some good flying it is a deadly force, having ps 9 on each of them through vaders swarm tactics helps eliminate any potential threats with your alpha strike
Advanced Vader Death Squad (100) -
+ (Pilot Trait) Swarm Tactics (2)
+ (Antenna) Sensor Jammer (4)
+ (Pilot Trait) Push the Limit (3)
+ (Torpedo) Advanced Proton Torpedo (6)
+ (Torpedo) Advanced Proton Torpedo (6)
Edited by Ghost VaderThanks. I have these ships. Any advice on how to fly them?
Thanks for this, Crabbock. I would ask you the same question. How would you fly your suggestion?
If you are running a missle friendly list, look at assault missles. The benefits affect the neighbors. Otherwise be warry, missle lists tend to be expensive one shot, hjts or misses.
Keep them in a formation with Lambda on the left, then vader on the right to him with the bomber right behind vader, I usually advance three green right away then move in more slowly, after the first alpha strike keep the shuttle going straight while k turning with vader and the bomber to hit whatever is left from behind! prioritize targets kill whichever is threatening bomber/vader the most each attack round, the Lambda can take plenty of damage and sensor jammers helps pull focus of defenders during the attack, sucks them in, make sure any ptl or k turn stress is transferred to Yorr, target lock and focusing allows you with the APT to ensure five hits, three of your blanks will automatically be turned to focuses which then equal hits, and u usually can roll atleast one or 2 hits/focus anyways to make 5 each apt, finish off the damaged ship with primary weapon attacks from vader/lambda, prioritizing threats is important
Edited by Ghost VaderWhen I fly bombers I try to keep them close and in formation, especially since both Howlrunner and Jonus both only affect folks within range 1. I put them in the back row and will even let them bump if need be, just to keep them close.
