Tantive IV campaign preview up.

By VanorDM, in X-Wing

Awesome im really looking forward to these campaigns.

Campaigns are what I like best in games.

Can't wait.

Pretty expensive title card!

I think it's cool that the missions will branch a bit. Very Wing Commandery.

Just reading through the overview of the missions - this looks pretty cool. Mission 2-B could be very interesting. A group of bombers dropping Proximity mines all around the Corvette could lead to a very bad day..

It is, but it also adds a fair amount, a extra crew and team slot is pretty big.

Same here, the transport campaign does much the same thing I believe. Or at least stuff that happen in one game carries over to the next.

The title card does look expensive. If you need it you've already spent points filling up the standard slots, now you're adding 4 more for the title plus the allowed additions. Curious.

Well consider this.

From the sounds of things, for the campaign it's just a CR-90 vs Imp ships. If you have 150+ points 4 points isn't that big of a deal + 1 more crew and 1 more team could quite nicely.

I hope there will be some flexibility in the Imperial squads you can run in the campaign. If you are only allowed to use what they say then it will get boring and predictable after a few runs. Say for instance that you just have to use "Howlrunner", but you can use any other combination of ships to meet the point requirement. With the bombers, it will kind of suck if you have to use a whole bomber squad. What if I only got two bombers? I just hope I don't have to run out and buy more bombers to play this how it is suppose to be played and what was play tested for.

Can someone explain how the maneuver works I just dont get it???

Someone did some drawings for it. But I'll try and explain it.

You can't see it in that picture, but there's a notch in the base of the maneuver template. When you make an maneuver you place the notch on the middle of the base, and move it forward what ever speed you picked.

If you want to turn, you pivot the ship until it hits the 1 or 2 turn and then slide it forward until it's touching the end of the template.

I think I get it now cheers

<---Giving credit where credit is due! keroko called it on the "Epic" tournament format that is referenced in this new post of info. So kudos to you!

I'm annoyed that they think they covered gaining Energy, when they haven't.

They talked about the new epic tournament format ages ago... In the original spoiler of the big ships.

They didn't really give details, and still haven't.

If they want preorders for these two huge ships to pick up, FFG needs to give details on the Epic Play format.

I think it's pretty clear, though, that Cinematic Play simply means using the series of missions that form campaigns that are included with the huge ships.

Edit: Did not even realize that the Tantive V I suggested was a non-canon element. Thought I had something there. :P

But if you are using it in pretty much any other format it's rather expensive. (I know it's illegal in standard format but epic play will probably allow it). Since they haven't shown us any team upgrades yet we can't know if those are really useful in a general sense or not.
