Hello fellow pilots!
Seeing as how I spend the majority of my time as I lurk these boards or sitting around at my desk dreaming up various lists to try out at my flgs during our league nights I was looking for some opinions on a specific subject of list building that has been very interesting to me lately and that is ship synergy.
I'm not talking about synergistic pilot abilities, such as those of Howlrunner, Garven, Lando, etc, but rather how different ship types work together and in what ways. Obviously I understand that the game is quite well balanced and that as a result most ships compliment one another fairly well but I'm looking more for exceptional utility between ships. I'll provide a pair of examples, which I imagine folks will find to be pretty straightforward and apparent: Y-Wings with ion turrets are able to set up easy targets for the less nimble craft that hit hard (X/B-Wings). A-Wings make for good escort craft for YT-1300s, keeping the flanks held down and preventing the opponent from being able to hone in on it with all of their crafts.
Perhaps there really isn't as much depth to the topic as I imagine, but either way I'd like to know what people think. (Or perhaps there really isn't much of a point in discussing it at all, most of this stuff could be self-evident and I'm just too thick to notice
)

The least maneuverable ship for the Empire flanked by her most maneuverable.
Or an Engine Upgrade Shuttle flanked by the only ships that can keep up with her.
Or Captain Yorr cranking PTL pilots into complete overdrive.

Also gives you the Krassis/Jonus combo.
However, on the cheapest level, it's the kings of survivability and unpredictability.
Xs and Bs: Tanks of two flavors, keeping high damage across the board.
This is more based on theory than actual experience (for as I have admitted I have no experience flying Imperials) but I would think that Interceptors and Bombers would work well together. It isn't exactly ideal (so perhaps TiEs work better?) to have the Interceptors go charging off into the enemy but by the same token providing that extra space (engaging the enemy closer to their board edge) ought to make it that much easier to ensure bomber ordinance successfully fires off.
Vader and Soontir Fel. Give Vader an engine upgrade and Soontir PtL. They are hard to catch!
I like garvin and Dutch. Though this one is pretty obvious.
You guys did read the bit where he said "disregarding pilot abilities", right?
Though, admittedly, that is very hard to do, some ship's roles change radically depending on which pilot in flying it, changing the synergies.

Although certainly upgrades can be factored into my original subject, not that that was necessarily being avoided at all
Firespray and Interceptors. Both hit hard and can be tough to predict. Go after the Interceptor, get torn up by the Firespray. Focus on the Firespray, get flanked by the Interceptor.
Tie Fighters and Tie Fighters.
Best list in the game atm.
Ywings with ICT, and Awings. Ion them, and flank them with the A's for easy Range 1 shots.
