So Herr, are you a fan of detective movies or noir? Or was there another reason for your character art?

And 14 attacks seems smaller than I thought... would you have run more?

As for the art: I'm a big fan of the noir visual (and I'm not only talking about the sin city/spirit noir style, but also about the old smoke filled rooms lit only by the street lamp outside). I'm extremely pleased with how it all came together: the light coming in through the slats in the window, the femme fatale, smoking guns, mobster suit, etc. I also really wanted to do something different than what the other champs had done, but I also wanted my artwork to look like it could come from the same "world" as Matt's artwork in case we ever win our elusive team asset. While most of the other champs went down the fantasy/samurai/fighting game motiff, I wanted to stand out another way, hence the noir style. I also felt like mobster/hitman could fit in style wise with a street level design (like Matt's card is) much like Seth and Terry fit in the same game theme.

As far as attacks: It's really hard to fit all the actions/assets/foundations I wanted to run into a deck packing more than 16 attacks. I ended up with 3 Reverse Flayer (cause it has a 2 check and isn't necessarily required for my kill turn), 4 Midnight Launcher (cause it really is that good), 3 Knight Breaker (cause I don't have death for the enhance and I mostly wanted it to throw at the end of an attack chain), and 4 ichi no tachi (because I'm squishy and I expected a lot of multiple attacks being thrown).

That left me with 14 attacks, which honestly is enough to have 2 in hand most of the time if you need them. I'll go into more detail when I post my report.

I'm actually thinking about showing that artwork to my Sci-Fi club to help promote the game a bit more here at school...Like, seriously.

I was on the phone with Shane earlier and we came to talking about the card. I mentioned how the girl on the card is what made me just roll around on the floor. Purely epic. Purely hilarious.

Yeah, it is probably one of the better character artworks in the game. Just curious... is the "dame" supposed to be anyone in particular?

The abilities are ridiculous... Thumbs up to another over the top busted character FFG, really it's what the meta needed.

To be honest, Herr's abilities are not busted. Look at Ibuki. She pumps a check by 3 for the cost of a card out of your hand for anything. He can just rig the checks on his NON ATTACKS. Notice the caps. And remember. He's only seeing the next card coming. He still needs to make the control check, and that card afterward might not be the greatest check (if he chooses not to BRT the card he sees into his hand, that is)

come on man jon herr's character card is good, the man himself is completely broken and is not human when it comes to ufs.

he's the best player in the game, the smartest player in the game and has the sexiest artwork in the game, just give the man his props.

Seriously, dude. If you think that his character is jank, especially compared to others on his symbol, you need to take a deeper look at the pool. His character is simply a well-oiled machine that does it's job effectively.

I definitely won't deny that he's going to probably be in the top 8/top 16 of every tournament the character card makes an appearance (and Jon himself will be the guy behind the deck-I doubt anyone would be that crazy to put themselves up against arguably the best player right now-ask Shajir how it worked out for him last year vs. James =P. Though, Shajir did come **** close).

I don't really know the state of the game right now, but Jon Herr doesn't look so broken. He's no Rose. The artwork of him is awesome though. I'm kind of excited to see how mine turned out now since I haven't even seen any sketches or anything.

Umigame is a cool guy and a great player, I don't want this to sound like an attempt to diminish his ability and I'm all for giving props to people for clever gameplay but... raise your hand if that wasn't the first thing you thought of when you saw the new terrain rule. I can't really give props to common sense...
