There is an encounter at the Lighthouse that closes it for the rest of the game. Does that mean you can never remove a rift track showing the Lighthouse? I think a house rule is in order: Just like you can enter closed locations with open gates, you should be able to enter closed locations if they're shown on the rift track (but you are moved to the street after you've had an encounter there and explored the rift). Thoughts?
North Point Lighthouse closed
Nope.
You can't remove lighthouse rift markers if the location closed. That's part of the difficulty and should not be changed.

Yes, that is exactly what it means. No, you cannot enter closed locations with open gates because no unstable location is ever closed in this game. You're free to play with whatever house rules you like, of course, but I personally can't see any justification for this one.
There is a mythos that closes hibbs roadhouse for a turn, and another mythos that closes science building for a turn...
I would like repies from people who actually know what they're talking about.
Well, I know that it's been ruled you can enter gates in unstable locations that have been closed. For the duration, that location is considered to not be the actual location because there is a gate there.
How, for Kingsport, I'd probably say that since it's not a GATE which is there leading to another world of some sort, then that progress marker is stuck there for the duration. That's the way we played it when we had that situation come up. It kind of makes it difficult, but there are other locations that can be explored to remve other markers on the same rift track.
That being said, I'm not sure if there's an official rule, and maybe that needs to be added to the FAQ questions...
On another note kroen, saying, "I would like replies from people who actually know what they are talking about" is a bit rude, and really not apprieciative of people who come here of their own free will and don't get paid to do it, who are trying to answer questions the best that they can. The forums on the whole are put here as a resource for gamers of FFG from all over the world, and giving rude replies to people's responses makes it less likely that people may want to help you in the future.

I was unaware of that ruling, and in truth I am a bit disappointed to hear of it, since we're only talking about a turn's delay in either ot those cases.
Thank you for standing up for civility, John. I do indeed regret the posting I made in response to Kroen's request for help to make him a better player, now that I see what he is really like.
Yup closed only thing that over rides closed locations is a gate so best leave Basil in his light house home or make sure the rift with a light house don't open
kroen just forgets his manners when talking about Kingsport. He's still in the "new expansion amour" phase.
Right, if the Lighthouse is closed you can't remove that rift progress token, and you can't close an open rift that has Lighthouse as one of the locations.
Honestly I don't think that's that big of a deal. If you're keeping the track down already, then getting down to just 2 tokens should be fine. If the rift actually opens up, at least you know you don't have to waste time trying to close it.

What about Ma Mathison Blight? It closes Ma's for the rest of the game, not for a turn. Similarly, if Terror goes up to 3/6/9, do you keep the appropriate store closed for a turn, only to reopen on the next?
For thematic purposes, and to at least slightly alleviate the "unsealable rift" problem, I generally house-rule that an Investigator with Basil as an ally can visit the Lighthouse, but no one else. He does have the keys, after all...
