Flora and Fauna of Kashyyyk

By MandalorynOranj, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey guys, I'm planning an adventure that's naturally leading to the Kashyyyk Shadowlands. I'm not super familiar with the creatures there or how to run them, so I turn to you all for help. I'd avoid the location if I could, but because this whole adventure is based on our Wookiee's background and Obligation, it has to be there.

A Wookieepedia search and my vague recollections of KOTOR turn up some cool creatures, but I have no idea how to stat them out. Any suggestions on things to include, or already published creatures that would work well re-skinned? Especially for a terentatek, but also smaller things.

Any help or tips would be much appreciated, thanks!

My girlfriend works at Star Tours and they have a whole list of creatures on Kashyyyk featured on the ride. I've been wanting to look into it because I'm vaguely sure some of them are original and therefore have very little canon surrounding them. Ripe material for an RPG, in other words. (And also something to update Wookieepedia with.) I'll keep this thread in mind next time I'm at the park. :)

The Holiday Special is set on Kashyyyk. It should give you lots of inspiration.... ;)

Something I just thought of, were there any sourcebooks for previous SW RPGs that had info on Kashyyyk? That might be good inspiration.

True Star Wars fans not only watch the idea ENTIRE holiday special, they make their friends and loved ones suffer through it each and every Christmas! Or was that "true sadists"...? Hmm.

In any event, my brother has been doing this for the past 4 years straight. I truly wish I was joking, but I''ve seen the entire holiday special probably a dozen times. :(

One of the old Star Wars Gamer magazines had an article and short adventure on Kashyyyk, number 4 or 5 I think. Try to find that.

I'd stay away from a Terentatek. They're not native to Kashyyyk and that one in KOTOR was a holdover from Sith experimentation.

Thanks for the tips, DavenQuint. As for why they're on Kashyyyk, two of my characters (a human and a Wookiee) have a shared backstory of growing up there together after the human's Imperial parents were killed and he was found orphaned. They eventually founded a small hidden refuge for freed slaves that they maintain, as well as a pair of Force-sensitive twins the human has a relationship with.

Spring semester is ending soon and I'm going to lead into summer brak with a bang. The Imps are gonna catch wind of the hideout and the twins, and send a force to destroy it. Leading that force is an Inquisitor trying to capture the twins and convert them to the Dark Side. He's going to capture one of them, leaving the other and the PCs either fleeing into the Shadowlands or in Imperial captivity, depending on how they do. I want to leave them on a down note for the next three months :P .

EDIT: I realize it sounds weird for one twin to be captured by the Inquisitor and the other by regular Imperials forces. The plan is for the one not directly captured by the Inquisitor to sense the other's pain, and be turned that way.

Evil!

Jewel of Yavin has a brief encounter on a holographic version of the planet, that may give a little more insight.

No doubt we will see it in an upcoming sector source book.

Thanks for the tip! I'm looking for more references to go by. BTW the holographic part is on page 94 of the Jewel of Yavin. If there are more references that some one could point me towards, that would be great.

If the vision of Dooku is to be believed in "Destiny," Yoda and him faced a giant t erentatek on Kashyyyk. Even though they may not be native, it is clear that there is still a terentatek population living on Kashyyyk in the decades prior to the Clone Wars, and possibly into the Galactic Civil War

More than likely the Terentatek is a bi-product of the machine the Rakata left to terraform the planet, and its dark side energy infusing the native wildlife. In this case, rancors, which have been seeded thoroughly throughout the galaxy. I doubt I would use it in the adventure module, but I would at least include a stat for it, should the gm want to use it. Maybe a dream sequence instead? That would be interesting

I am also interested in the local plant life that's native to the world.

Many of the creatures in the above link are statted out in d20 form which may help.

Oh very nice! Thanks. I'll check these out for sure.

Rekindling an old topic, for the kkekk rrg rho, just going to reskin something, maybe add Linked 1 for the extra leg?
