Two copies of an item and number in brackets

By TheBossInTheWall, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Two questions. Please forgive if its been explained. Been reading the forums and the faq without finding what i wanted to know. Might be in the rule book, but I've read it through many times and its more likely not in there than I missed it. Can't be sure of course.

SO. If you have two motorcycles or maps of arkham, can you use both to gain 4 or 2 movement points respectively? I read you can use two copies of a spell(one handed), but nothing about unique items and common items. I assume you can use two of the same weapons if they're one handed. Like two axes or .45s. Also, can you use two different items that give you movement points one turn? Such as that gem or Ry'leh and the map of arkham?

Some encounters that require a skill check have a number in brackets next to the difficulty modifer. Such as -1 Lore[2]. What does that mean?

Thanks for info. :D

Yes, as long as they are one handers, there isn't anything to stop you from using two .45's or anything.

Yes, you can exhaust 2 motorcycles to get +4 move, or a motorcycle a map and a ruby, whatever. Sometimes that doesnt seem to make sense (2 motorcyles?) but thats how it works.

The first number is the skill modifier. The second number, in brackets, is the number of sucesses required to win the check. If there isn't a number specified, assume it to be one.

If you have two of the same item, go nuts. If an item uses hands or movement points to activate, you may not be able to use them all. If an item costs Sanity to activate (as most spells do), you may not want to use them all.

The number in brackets is the number of hits you need to succeed at the test. For example:

Lore (+0) [2] check

Means that you roll your Lore and need to roll two separate successes (usually a 5 or 6) in order to succeed at the check.

Thanks for the responses! :D

Ah.. mind if i ask another question about movement?

Normally, items that grant movement are exhaust to use, but Ruby of R'lyeh says Movement: You get 3 extra movement points. Do you get this at the start of your turn?. If so do the bonus still remain when you give the ruby to another investigator? Does he then get 3 extra movement points at the start of his turn? (Assuming of course his turn is after yours)

Don't think thats been ansewered... you could add exhaust to get the movement points but I usally trade it around to get extra movement for everyone... its a rare item and doesn't really effect the game to much though :(

It was probably meant to be exhausted to be used, like the map and motorcycle.

We've been playing it as reusable by different investigators. It costs $8 so it's twice the cost of a Motorcycle, plus it's rare/unique and should have special properties.

My thought exactly cool.gif
