Question about the Force 'stat'

By keltheos, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I've been re-reading the EoE book in anticipation of a player wanting to build a force sensitive, but I keep coming up with nothing when I try to find out how to upgrade the Force 1 rating. Force isn't listed as a 'stat' in the front of the book, nor under the Force description, so I'm curious how it's upgraded. Is it considered a stat/characteristic for XP purposes or am I just missing where it's laid out in the book?

You buy a particular Talent at the bottom of a Force Senstiive Specialization talent tree. The Talent is called "Force Rating" and improves one's FR by 1.

Force rating 1 is gained by purchasing the specialization "Force Sensitive Exile". You must have a Specialization first and then purchase this one giving the character a Force Rating of 1. As of right now the only way you can gain more Force Rating is via the talent tree on Force Sensitive Exile and it only allows for one more additional Force Rating point.

You cannot purchase improvements to FR outside of the talent tree and as of right now you can only do it once.

Ah, I was missing it in the tree then. Thanks.

And, I just now saw the Force Exile thread answered the question as well. :)

Others beat me.

Aside: buying into your second Force Sensitive spec does not, in and of itself, increase FR. Both Edge's FSExile and AoR's FSEmergent give "FR 1," not "FR +1."

With the games currently out, FR is maxed at 3: buying into a Force Spec (1), buying Force Rating at the bottom of that tree (1+1=2), buying into the second Force Spec (no change), buying Force Rating at the bottom of the 2nd Spec's tree (2+1=3).

Assuming AoR is allowed in your Edge game.

It probably will be. I did catch that in the other thread. I have the AoR beta rules, but honestly haven't gone through the Force rules there in much detail. Looks like I'll be doing that next. :)
