Lambda Shuttle Reprints

By face747, in X-Wing

Wondering if anyone has picked up a shuttle recently that they know is one of the reprints that came back in stock a week or so ago.

I know the initial run had a lot of wing rotation problems (the wings on my shuttle will not fold all the way down) and i was wondering if the issue was still as prevalent on the reprints. I am going to be picking up a second one and I wanted to know if its worth trying to guarantee that it is a reprint or just pick any one up.

Thanks

I can say i just picked one up yesterday and i believe it was from the reprints, My wings go down just fine. = D

I also picked one up yesterday and was impressed to see I have working wings. A lot of the guys at my shop have messed up wings so I was pretty relieved.

The wing issue on the first run was caused by excess paint in the slots on the bottom of the Shuttle. With an X-acto knife and a little patience you can get the wings working just fine. I have 4 first run Shuttles all with wings that will go all the way down to where they are supposed to go. It took about 30 mins each trimming paint away lightly and testing.

Also you can tell if they are the re-print by looking at the date near the barcode on the box. If the date is late '13 early '14 then it's a reprint. It is good to see they did listen to the customers about this issue if the newer ones are fixed.

I just hit the slots with some lubricating oil.. they work fine now..

So I just went and picked my second shuttle up. It is a reprint as the date on the barcode is mar14. They have actually redesigned the wing attachments. I don't have pictures but the originals looked like open hooks from the outside. The new shuttle is open hook on the farthest forward hinge but all the others are solid now. The wings on my new shuttle slide easily all the way down and up to almost touching the central fin.

My original shuttle wings went just past vertical one the up position and just past horizontal in the down position so the new design gives a lot more movement.

And now I want to buy a second Shuttle... Then I could paint one or have someone paint one...

Good to hear they redesigned the inside. Odd they would since it was the channels with thick paint that made them not work on the first run. I guess they beefed up the hinge just in case the paint issue arose again. I have heard alot of people broke them at first by trying to force them down without noticing the real issue. Mine all go completely down to be in the same position as the one in the opening of RotJ and go up and still stay up so I'm fine with that.

Give that first one a dab of 3-1 oil or try trimming some of the excess paint and you'll be good to go!
