Quick rules question

By Bradimus Prime, in X-Wing

Hi folks

I just wanted to run something past you that I'm not 100% sure on, in the Xwing FAQ it says this...

Q: If an effect “deals a damage card” (either faceup or facedown), does the effect follow the procedure for “Suffering Damage” on page 16 of the core set rulebook?

A: No. For example, the effect of Proton Bombs deals one faceup Damage card to each affected ship. This effect should not be confused with producing a result, thus this effect does not interact

with shields, cannot be canceled by evade tokens, cannot be redirected by Draw Their Fire, etc.

Would this apply to Vaders (crew) ability?

I'm thinking yes but I've read articles that refer to people using Vaders ability once a ships shields have been dropped.

Cheers

No, Vader's crew ability causes the target to suffer one critical damage. It doesn't directly deal a damage card. Only when an effect directly deals a damage card does it bypass the suffering damage procedure.

Exactly, the card will say very specifically "deal a face up/face down damage card" - at this time I believe proton bomb and Jek porkins are the only cards that use this verbiage.

You're right, those are the only two cases so far.
