Don't know if there is any truth in some thing I heard, that the reason there is a shortage of wave 3 minis is because the European container "disappeared" in transit Hope this is wrong because it does not bode well for the next shipment
scuttlebutt
Any shortage is far more likely due to the great demand for the product and FFG still working to increase their production. I highly doubt that product disappears on anything large enough of a scale (in this industry) that it would have the effect you describe.
I shall put the person straight on this cheers
The owner of my FLGS told me yesterday that the manufacturer only delivered half of the expected Imperial Aces shipment. I believe he said he got that from the distributor.
This makes me so happy that my FLGS was able to aquire enough for the in store demand. Oh and they have three of them sitting on the shelf for sale as well.
That's crazy. Darned smugglers.
Fortunately my town has a VERY small playerbase (limited to me and the guy I play with...who uses my stuff
) and the guy at my FLGS knew I'd be there so he pulled one Aces pack off the shelves just for me.
I found out when I called a few days before they shipped out thier orders from MM that my 4 Imp Aces that I pre-ordered back on the 19th of Sept were the first pre-order their system took.....glad I did cause I got mine at $19.99 each.
Apparently one of the things we've learned from the disappearance of Malaysia Flight MH370 is that there is a certain amount of ocean debris that can be attributed to containers falling off of ships. I wonder how often this actually happens.

I didn't order mine until 3/12/14 from Coolstuff, but I still got them for $19.99 each, unlike MM who jacked their prices once they were listed as "shipping" from FFG.

Estimates range from around 2000 to 10.000 annually, at about 5 million containers at sea at any given moment.

That means containers have been falling of ships for about 500 years? Impressive.

sounds like one of amazons pirate heists, when we will see them on Amazon we will know the truth.

I meant of course, that there are 5 million containers on ships at sea at any given moment.
.
Most sink, but some float for a couple of months.
Somewhere there is a happy man, stranded on an island playing X-Wing with a volley ball.
I would like to have a few of those containers!! would make a great shed... yeah i know its OT, but my current shed is falling down and i am dreading having to demolish it, and then build a new one...however on topic apparently containers falling off is so common that ships getting damage by hitting them is a problem..
Why do I have a mental image of a megalomaniac on his island hideout laughing maniacally among a mountain of X-Wing miniatures?
Either that or Gollum sitting on a mountain of miniatures deep in the mountain: " My pressssiousssssss "
I spent a short time in college on a few containerships, and one did actually lose a few containers over the side in a storm.
They're secured down pretty well, but after a lot of yawing, pitching and rolling, things happen.
If you figure 5 million on ships at any given moment, imagine how many move in a year. 2,000 to 10,000 lost is pretty small potatoes.
Somewhere, in the dark depths of the sea, Lord Vader is shaking his fist.
Gullwind - unless it is all the contents of your house when moving overseas... which is what happened to some friends of ours. OTOH They did get like £250k to replace everything. (They lost everything they owned that wasn't in the 4 suitcases they had with them on the airplane)

Its seems that I will pay a visit to that island on my next vacation and trade those miniatures for food
"Jack, we have to go back to the island! They have Wave 4!"
