Storage

By Shanester40, in X-Wing

I've used storage boxes as well but in addition I've put magnets on bases and into the boxes. Now nothing is loose, nor bounce each other. I can literally shake the box upside down and no ship will fall out. That's make cheap and safe storage solution.

I appreciate they are expensive, but I do like my KR cases. Second X-wing one has just been ordered, as by the time my back orders arrive, my existing one will be full. They aren't the best for use of space, but they give excellent protection.

The new one will also have some pick and pluck for my token box and the asteroids I made to match the card tokens:

I think I'll need three cases by the end of wave 4/large ships. The beauty of this system is that I have all the trays the same depth so I can get two trays of gaming stuff and two trays of ships in one case and keep everything else stored at home. I also like the fact the small ships are stored fully assembled.

Cards are sleeved and stored a page per ship in a zip up folder:

Small cards are sleeved and stored two to a slot. They are pretty snug, so they don't move about:

Yes, I do have a bit of OCD...

Ok so I went and bought a Plano 1354, for £41 delivered off E-Bay, can not wait to get organised.

I was a bit hyper-paranoid about breakage when I first got into the game (this was my first minis game). I also couldn't afford one of the really nice foam bag. So I went the plano route as well.

However, you can use plano boxes and not have the ships bouncing around. All you need is some double sided tape and packing foam. It works quite well. It also is handy to keep the plastic insert for some of the ships.

Anyway, here's some pics for reference. Edit:Not sure why this top is sideways.

We don't have OCD, everyone else are just slobs.

LOL....I spent more money on foam trays and bags for my 3 W40K armies and my 1 WFB army than I have everything I have bought for X-Wing. If you know me then you know I am as OCD about my stuff as any of you. The thing is I have been carrying my X-Wig stuff around like this for over a year.....with not one thing to break. These models are tougher than you guys think. They aren't made of glass. Also if anything ever broke to the point I couldn't just reglue it. It is easy now to wait for it....buy a replacement!

Ah the joys of pre-painted.

If it breaks you can just buy a replacement.

Then strip it and repaint it.

Was meant to post earlier when I seen this thread but I can't for the life of me figure out how to post pictures using a iPad!

But for uk players if you want bargain storage B&M sell a storage box for £2.49 that has the perfect compartments for small ships and one long area. For all the movement templates and range ruler. Think of that black and decker box people recommend for a fraction of the cost. I originally used two of those, one for all my ships the other for all tokens/dials etc.

I've since changed to a full sized tool box (that I owned anyway) that opens at the top for all the tokens and can hold loads of boxes inside and has a carry handle.

Think I might have to take a trip to my local lidl tho and see if they stock any of these bags people are talking about.

I have to say thanks to everyone who has taken the time to post pictures and advice on this thread, it gave me a lot of things to think about. Like I said I've ordered my Plano now it's just a matter of time to wait for it to arrive, but I have to say every picture I have seen on her is just awesome, you guys just epitomise the way I feel about this stuff, he'll I'm 40 and fell like a kid when the movie first came out!

Agreed. As long as eveyone here is happy with how they have their stuff stored and enjoys this game as much as I do then I say.....HUZZAH!
