R2-EQ, I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian, and very familiar with Russian history from a non-Western point of view. I also have first hand knowledge of what went on in Yugoslavia (at the time, it had yet to be officially dissolved). I would reserve my opinion of those for an actual political board, not this one.

I am basing my "NATO power" on lampooning NATO as being way too expensive, loaded with a bunch of high-tech but completely useless wonders, and completely incapable of coming to a decision on its own. Just like the OP could (and IMO should, unless you are hopelessly inclined towards being offended) be taken as lampooning Russia and Putin.

It's satire, no more. Take it as such. It was a darkly humorous piece, and should be given no more thought than that.

I found the original post humorous... I am an American, and found humor in the satirical posts after the OP... do they strike a real painful situation.. indeed they do, but we can rise above that for a momemt and laugh at ourselves and enjoy the humor..

It is our diversity that makes us interesting and unique.. the ability to look at current events and make light of it can be intense, and can offend sometimes... but only if you let it get to you. We need to be thicker skinned, don't take it too seriously.

The thing is i disagree that it is good satire. To me the card is based in western propaganda. The cards premise is actually not accurate.

The thing is there is so much you could do with a Putin card. I would have a Vader self damage type card as Putin is accused (with good circumstantial evidence) of having the FSB blow up Moscow buildings and blame the Chechens. That helped him get elected.

Or you could have a Putin card that penalizes an opponent for talking as Putin helped instigate state control on all television outlets. He is also thought to have amassed a large personal fortune.

The OP card is implying Putin annexed Crimea. It is parroting the western media propaganda machine. In truth the Crimea has always had closer ties to northern Russia. It was never part of Kievan Rus and only settled during the Empire. It has been part of Russia proper for over 200 years until 1954 when Khrushchev made it a part of the Ukraine SSR for administration.

The people of Crimea, mostly Russian speaking voted to leave Ukraine. They are scared because the US has backed Neo Nazi Western Ukrainian radicals who are aggressively anti-Russian and staged a coup. Those are the facts.

That is why I got involved in this post. If it was a funny piece of accurate satire, I'd be all for it.

It is interesting you would pick the Galactic Empire as having Putin on their side considering it really has more connections with Imperial Russia and the U.S.S.R. than it ever did with NAZI Germany.

Before I continue I would like to say The R.F. is 75% in the right. I dont agree they should kill anyone that disagrees with the taking back land that shouldnt have been taken.

To be brief Palpatines apperance was based on LOTR Ring Wraiths which was based on the apperiance of special riders created by Ivan the Terrible to defend the Mother land and the Orthodox Church.

Palpatines actions to destroy the Jedi, and any force users, by discrediting them and then horrible kill them is very simular to actions of the Soviets League of Militant Atheists. It had two parties the righties and lefties. The rights felt religion would eventually die out so nothing should be done about religious people. The lefties on the other hand felt the righties were wrong about their method, so eventual put an end to them and then aggresivly attacked any people that practiced religion by destroying religious land marks, attacking the credability of every person who was religious by making them look like idiots or slandering them, they would also threaten them.

If those religious people were devout enough to remain religious after going through the above they were handeled with extreme prejudice.

The above factors in with Emperors Hands, Imperial Inquisition. Granted some religion remains in the Empire but I feel this note is stil valid.

The Imperial war industrys very much reasembles the Soviet war industry of 1940s. While Hitler was obsessed with super tanks Russia was building giant forces of Tanks, esp the T-34. Alot, but not all, of their forces were high performance / expendable/ swarm forces as apposed to the NAZIs straight forward high performance / almost unkillable smaller forces.

One could argue that the American M4 was more expendable than the T-34 but one major diffrence is that 34 is very difficult to maintain possible because the designers didnt expect the tank and its crew to survive long.

One could argue that the design of Interceptors, and more advancecd fighters, the Death Stars, AT-ATs, and Star Destroyers fit more with German idollogy but I would point out Russians had very very good weapons and vehicles not really considered cannon fodder.

AT-AT = Stalin 1-8 tanks or the Russian assault tank (ISU-152) known to the NAZIs as the "beast killer" its howitzer could blast the cannons off German tanks.. Needless to say even the Royal Tiger tank was royally screwed by this Russian assault tank.

Star Destroyers = Gangut-class Battleships. Though the were not the best armored they arguably had the most powerful group of weapons.
