hey i am making a ship event table to use in my games using this site below
http://www.lastgaspgrimoire.com/generators/the-seventh-order-of-the-random-generator/
what i want is basically a big list of events that can happen on the ship that my PC's have to deal with. it has been nice to have some inner ship events laying in a table that i can call on during a game. i mostly throw these events at the PC's during space combat to really crank up the tension or dureing other high stakes situations. they have junk heap of a ship and i dont let them forget it. i have made a list that i am useing but most of the results have been seen already by my PC's. so if people wanted to throw ideas in this forum i could make a huge table to roll on really fast!
here is my current table (please put each new entry on a new line like i have)
a cascading power overload is destroying systems along the main power conduit. it is heading for the primary power junction, the only place that can reroute the power away from the main reactor.
the bulkhead of the main cistern has buckled and several hundred thousand liters of water are flooding compartments.
the shipside monorail system has malfunctioned, the breaking mechanism has failed and the trains refuse to stop accelerating. they will derail/crash soon. . Perhaps more importantly much needed components of power junction 1236 are stranded aboard the trains.
the plasma core has become supercharged, excess energy is arching outward from the core and power transformers across the ship in hot purple bolts.
the prime Injector assembly has corroded beyond repair due to poor maintenance. no more fuel can be fed into the reactors. the ship will run on reserve batteries for 3 combat rounds.
Gravity plating has failed on all decks except for the bridge which is experiencing 4X gravity due to a miscalculation by a tech priest.
Green flames are pouring out of the primary engine block they don’t seem to burn or injur people upon contact but metal quickly rusts and dissolves under the heatless flame.
The geller field’s polarity has reversed creating a localized warp tear within engineering which is slowly widening.
The rudder thruster has jumped it’s mounting and a piston the size of a skyscraper has bent. Making any turns to port very difficult.
Engine coolant and maintaince unguents were not properly blessed and reports are filing in from around the ship that systems are refusing to operate and any component with moving parts is starting to seize up.
The fule intermix ratio in auxillery generator 6695 was off by 12 degrees and exploded. the crater left in deck 45-60 is a smoking hellhole and the only path between the Tool cradle and main engineering.
A flock of cherubim delivering vital components to a group on engineers were struck by static discharge. Dormant combat subroutines have activated and they are carrying out sabotage efforts across the engine decks.
An Armed Melta shell is precariously hanging above the main magazine. It was being moved by the last ordinance boom-crane on the ship which has just broken down.
The stress of tactical maneuvers on the ship’s superstructure has caused stress fractures to form along main Support beams. Structural integrity fields could ensure the ship’s back isn’t broken during combat but the power will have to come from somewhere.
Primary vent- systems have shut down. Radiation is flooding engineering. Emergency bulkheads are not responding.
The some spare manifold hubs your quartermaster last purchased in port were wildly inexpensive and came from a forge world near the eye of terror. You discover that they were secretly marked by the sigils of chaos undivided. You must find any installed components before… well… in ignorance rests salvation.
A Power transformer, attached to the void shield array, the size of a 17 story apartment building has been burnt out. It might be salvageable, albeit unsafe. A spare is available but disposing of the old one and moving he new up 6 decks with pure man-power will be a challenge.
A group of tech priests have managed speedy repairs by neglecting to place maintenance or purity seals on machinery throughout the ship after they conduct a repair. Minor systems are shutting down ship wide and there is no way to locate individual faults. Every minor system must be blessed or else the problem could rapidly grow out of control
A small cult who worship not only the ommesiha the god of the machine. but a new god of their own creation -Consisus, the god of disrepair (nurggle!). the cultt refuses to allow repairs of any system seeing the current situation as a contest between the ommeshia and Consisus. They are violent and have barricaded themselves in a number of control rooms throughout the ship.
St. Elmos fire! The scaffolding around the engine blocks has developed a strong static charge and glows lightly. Ball lightning is forming and bouncing about the engine room harmless to tech priests who glow as well. The air fills with the holy scents of incense and chanting. Machinery all works perfectly. But the static charge and the bouncing lightning are lethal to unmodified crew; panic and fear grows among them.
The rigging and scaffolds built around important areas of the ship. is shaken and the great masts begin to splinter. Loose catwalks and unsecured railings fall. Thousands of men and hundreds of tons of heavy equipment sway uncertainly. Before long a chain reaction could destroy all the rigging in the engine decks.
Coolant vents 465-720 have grown to hot, the hatches are locked in the closed position and need to be opened. The vents in question are on the ouside of the ship.
Heavy machinery has broken loose of its mounts and is sliding free within the ship. If it is not secured then it could puncture the hull or destroy other systems.
The bilge men have been working triple shifts on the pump-works in the main life sustainer and have finally collapsed of exhaustion. noxious vapours are now rising freely from the underdecks, and the chemical waste that is usually pumped out of active areas of the ship starts to affect inner ship systems.
The crew of the gun decks, over worked, underfed, and terribly abused by the gun captain has grown tired and refuses to work unless ridiculous demands are met.
The fireing solutions arnt reaching the macrocannon gun crews. Something is happening to the packet runners between the cogitotor and gun decks.
