How much are your preordering for wave 4?

By Rasconzo, in X-Wing

I'm going to start with 5 Headhunters and 2 of the others, and build up from there.

I really have a hard time thinking that I'll ever play an 8 Z-95 list. (especially when I can play 7 Z-95 and 1 refit A-Wing and still be under 100pt)

6- Z95s

3- E-wings, Defenders, Phantoms

1- Rebel Aces

I got a good deal on miniaturemarket.com each ship being 9.99 instead of the 14.99 normally though I am going to pick up 1 z95 and 1 defender from a local store when they come out. Also I am debating if I need 7 z95s or 8. The problem is they are not a swarm ships as much as a ship to complement others, Like 2 B-wings/y-wings/a-wings/xwings/outer rim and 4-95s. The thought that you could run Han with 4 other ships is nuts. I do plan on running 4 Defenders come launch day and it's going to wreck people.

For stuff like a new wave I tend to order it from Miniature Market. I like buying stuff from my LGS. But he just can't beat MM's prices.

I plan on buying 3 Defenders, E-Wings and Phantoms. 6 Z-95's.

On MM that comes out to about $150 with free shipping. At the LGS that would come out to be around $80+ more. I just can't justify spending an extra $80 when I seldom play there. I have a group of friends I play with and we play in someone's house most times.

I did buy the Imperial Aces from my LGS, as well as a number of single ships though. But when it's a big lot of stuff I just can't pass up the deals you get online.

1 Defender. 1-2 E-Wings(Likely one, but I kinda want another advanced Sensors so We'll see) 2 Phantoms. 3-4 Z-95's

I do love my LGS been friends with the owners for 7 years, and enjoy walking in and finding a ship here and there I need but you are correct. It's hard to drop 17*15(plus tax) vs 17*9.99 (no tax) However I do buy a ship here an there from them and my wife and I drop a couple hundred a year on board games from them. Plus they are Star Wars friendly so there you go.

I have 4 of every ship (including large ships) except TIE fighters, which I have 8 of. In that vein;

8 Z-95

4 E-Wing

4 Phantom

4 Defender

However, when you consider that my wife, my daughter, and myself all play and share a single collection it isn't as extreme as it appears.

Somewhat depends on the cards/upgrades with each, but probably 3 each, with a TBD additional number of Headhunters. I don't have the fondness for them that I do for TIEs, but I can see lists with 3-4 of them as support ships for me.

3 seems to be the magical number for me with most ships, though Aces sorta threw my Interceptor total out of whack.

I used to get two of everything small, 1 of big. But with Aces coming out for both factions, those numbers are no longer symmetrical. I also like trying to limit my selection to proportions of their real availability in-galaxy. So I can have a ton of TIES but fewer B-wings for example. The exception of course is when a new edition comes out.

That being said, I went with 3 Z-95's (common), 2 E-wings and 2 TIE/Defenders (advanced), and 1 Phantom (rare). That way I keep something of the SW galaxy feel at all times. Could 4 Phantoms take on 8 Z-95's? Sure. But more likely in my mind that a Rebel force stumbles onto a pair of Defenders or Imperial squad with a single Phantom, much like how the Allies were terrified of the Me262 towards the end of the war but only encountered them in limited numbers. I like that I enter into the SW galaxy while playing this game and throwing off the natural constraints of that initiation so I can run 100pts worth of a ship feels like it betrays that spirit somewhat if they're rare ships. Just my style. The exception is if I only need or will ever use a few of a very common ship, hence my only having 2 Y-wings. That may change though with the arrival of Epic play and capital ships though.

8 Headhunters

4 E-Wing (I'll sell 1 if I only need 3)

4 Defenders (Again sell 1 if only 3 are needed)

4 Phantoms

What he said, except I ain't selling nothing.

The PS1 pilot is pretty visible, and the cost looks like 30--so you can run at most three defenders in a 100-point list. Of course if you're talking about a 150-point game or something even bigger, just ignore me.

2 each of the E-Wing, Phantom & Defender and 4 of the Z95, if only for the Wingman card.

3 of each, except Z95s - I ordered 6 of those.

4 of each. Myself, my wife, and my stepdaughter all play out of my collection, so I need more than 100points worth of some of them. I might end up needing more Z-95's, but I'll get those at a semi-LGS if I do. My LGS doesn't do X-Wing, they do Attack Wing. I have to drive an hour to get to one that has an X-Wing presence.

4 Z-95

2 Phantom

2 Defender

2 E-Wing

3 Z-95 & Phantom

2 E-wing & Defender
