Amos, you are wrong its not 5-10 supplements a quarter there is one Addon so far every half a year. The lieutenants and the rehash packs are very conditional as I said in another thread you might need a new lieutenant once a campaign.

Lilikin -

Sure, it's one thing every half a year, if you (as you're doing here) ignore 95% of the stuff that they're putting out. I'm not sure why you think the lieutenants don't count as content, or the rehash packs... that seems profoundly weird to me. But yes, if you ignore all the stuff that they're putting out, they're clearly not putting stuff out very quickly.

As for money - yes, I definitely have, as you say, "cash issues with buying them." I'll be the first to admit I don't work particularly hard for my money, but even so I don't just throw it away on a game because the company wants me to. If you do - well, good for you. Well, not you, but good for FFG, then. But, no, neither money or shelf space are factors in my burnout. Did you not read the post where I laid out in detail the quality issues I have with the game?

I am not saying you should be shamed because you cannot afford to buy lots of games. What I am saying is:

1) quality is an interesting question which by your report is clearly lacking, this is where we may agree!!!

2) There are three types of people that buy this stuff (very broadly) one buys the base game and maybe the odd expansion if it peeks his interest and will play it or not whenever their group wants too. the second buys the game to play it, they buy the base game and maybe now a lieutenant with the base box plays through the games campaign and at some point buys another box to play the next campaign with the next campaign buys another lieutenant pack (which (s)he now has a choice of 16 = 6 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 4 they can't have more than one on a single campaign it's not like XWMG where you need multiples to play) to vary their experience. on the current release schedule this player will be playing around once a month to get through a campaign at the rate at which they are releasing them. Once a month isn't a lot for most players who have a dedicated group of Descenters, if you play more a release of a big box once a year and a little box with three quests in clearly isn't fast enough for those players who remember need relatively balance quests to ensure some kind of balance so most rely solely on Official FFG scenarios this is NOT an RPG it is a tactical quest game with RPG elements so needs some kind of officially balanced scenarios. The player may want to buy the rehash packs if he has not got the first edition of the game and personally for someone who sold it I want them. The third buyer is a collector who wants to buy everything (like me) this game has a lot to it but still isn't stupid expensive could you imagine buying every supplement for D&D or making sure you had every card for magic, or even one the LCGs which are very limited in comparison? It would be silly this game sits somewhere between D1E with a few add ons and those games with loads of cyclic releases It does NOT require the levels of devotion those games do to collect them all but does have a lot if you want to collect. The choice is silly really pick your level of interest, if you feel the quality is poor then don't buy it, and until I get SoN I can't comment on that but the release schedule isn't as silly as you are making out.

Also if Stevo-O is still reading after that wall of text IMO LoR quests are a lot better than the base ones if you like this game at all I would recommend those over the base game.

You can also be AND a collector AND a player. I buy all, but I also play with all (or at least as much as possible).

But I do have a friend who buys and play sometimes, if never, and sometimes sell back stuff as new.

I agree :)

Like rugal, I tend to buy everything and collect it, but with Descent it appears that FFG will just release all the old D1E stuff anyway which will diminish the re-sale value. I haven't got SoN yet, but I bought it as I anticipate the quests themselves to be interesting - it's a shame I am hearing the opposite. I am a little surprised they are continuing on with the small box sets though as I find the rumour mechanic just doesn't work well. It makes an already long game too long and doesn't fit into the game well IMO. I wish they would just focus on the big box sets, lieutenants and H&M sets.

It may just be my opinion, but the quests seem very interesting to me. The influence mechanic is awesome and adds tension to the game. I hope all future expansions include it.

SoN was much easier for me to digest than LoR was, which while it was a good campaign, it felt flat at times.(such as why is Merrick and Splig randomly showing up here- yes yes I know that was before Lieutenant packs  ). With each overlord win, you get the sense you are losing the city, and its quite the opposite when the heroes pull out a victory.

You'll have to judge for yourself though. ;)

I do think too that SoN quest are really cool, and interresting

And if I like big box, I do like too small boxes and mini campaign system, easier to finish and excellent to test classes to see what they can show at full potential

You can always run them as Mini Campaigns instead of full ones.
