Dark Heresy as a War game

By soldeen70, in Dark Heresy House Rules

Hey all When me and my group were gaming one of the players suggested the 'combat' part of game could really make a good wargame

so what we did was make up some rules for wargaming with dark heresy

1 the player may take 3-6 PCs and use them as his army

2The players must decide on a rank limit (Eg all the Characters must be lower than rank two)

3 the players agree on how many months worth of money they can spend on gear , wepons and armour

we use these basic guidelins as the rules the armys take a while to set up but once they get the stuff done its really cool we use warhammer40k miniatures on a 4'x4' board and we measure every thing in cm (eg weapons range 30m so its 30cm) also we dont write background info cause it takes to long

THESE RULES AREN'T SOLID

It would be really Appriciated if you told me what you think gran_risa.gif

For further ideas you should try to find a copy of Necromunda. I noticed the reverse, that DH is perfect to bring this OOP WH40k skirmish game to the RP group.

Im going to write a book based on the lord of the rings movie. Im calling it, lord of the rings, the book.

Well, there's really no reason why a skirmish game with the Dark Heresy rules should not work. Remember that in the days Rogue Trader (WH40k's "1st edition") there was less emphasis on balance and tactical challenge but more on diversity and fun. In fact, the game was intende for three or more players: A minimum of two opposing players and a GM to arbitrate.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a war game, though.

Well, it's sort of the opposite of what some people did with inquisitor, one idea could be to use the inquisitor models with the dark heresy rules though, problem with that is still the terrain though.
