Blaster turret isn't worth the focus you have to spend, you'll want it for defense. Upgrade it to ion turret. Now that they are the same cost, it's important to consider if you'd rather have the survivability if the falcon over the support from the hawk. I would generally choose the falcon, as Roark has never helped me that much. However, I have seen him destroy a Firespray with an ion turret to get third place in a store champ.

One of my favorite ships to fly is Outer Rim Smuggler + Anti Pursuit lasers. At 29 points, you have a tank that you fly into predicted opposing flightpaths. Either suffer my action denial and some cheeky hits, or learn to avoid my ORS and fly into my waiting guns!

Mwhahaha.

I was concerned about the YT-1300’s agility and attack of two dice not three. At this event they are allowing the NEW Imperial Aces Expansion, which means lots of people flying Interceptors.

Good Idea

I think the big factor is: what else are you running? Will you benefit from the PS12 shot?

Generally, the ORS will move first/shoot last, so your opponents will be able to react to the proximity of the ship and work to make its attack less effective. But, it can soak up a lot of damage, and be really annoying as a blocker. If you have some heavy hitters on your team, the ORS may be a good call.

If you have a range of PS's among your other ships, and want to make sure they can all (or most) shoot before the opponent.

turrets can be really strong, especially against the new interceptors that just came out. I agree with Engine25, the focus used to fire the blaster turret is most likely better used for defense. And, an ion token can do a lot to control your opponent, especially if you hit one of their named pilots with it.

A YT's agility means less cause it can take the hits. Im not a huge fan of the 2 attack dice, but for the price its not a bad buy.

If you're taking a couple heavy hitters, I'd probably run with the YT. But if you're running several Rookie's, Roark might give you more bang for your buck.

I think a lot of it has to do with what else you're flying. Roark is a great support ship amongst a squad of low PS pilots. If all your pilots are 8 or 9s, he's worthless.

With Otter Rim Smuggler my pilots will be 1 and 2. With Roark my pilots will be 2 and 4. I will have a mix of X & B wings and 1 ship that can fire in a 360 for a total of 4.

At R1, you are still dishing out three dice. Moreover, that 360 degree firing arc will punish interceptors for making mistakes.

The idea with this, however, is to fly first (PS1) into where the interceptors are going to go. They will lose their action and will not be able to attack ORS. For those that can (assuming a swarm of int's are flown?) you have a decent amount of hull/shield.

And they'll be trying so hard to get rid of a 29pt investment :L

I agree 99%

I love Roark, one of my favorite pilots in the game.
