Shoot with han to knock off any focus/evade tokens (if you didn't use your a-wings to block), then fire again at +1 attack dice with Opportunist!

The green squadron DTF helps against crits w/ han and adds to his survivability.

Late game you have a PTL a-wing with a stealth device (or other upgrade) that can finish off your opponents if they do manage to take out the Falcon.

Wowzers! 4 A-wings w/ PTL and when they fire they all clear each others stress allowing for K-turns repeatedly (against the new imperial ship), free movement after a PTL round, and just about anything else you could think of!

In my world, "DTF" means something way different and way cooler.

Instead of Chewie, maybe play Recon Specialist? That opens up possibilities for extra EPTs on the As or heck, just get rid of the stealth device and put a shield on the falcon: you've made up the 1HP already. And you're bound to use the focus on the defense 1 time, making up for the other extra HP from chewie.

I know the 2 HP is great, but part of what makes HSF so potent is the Marksmanship and ability to essentially focus for each attack.

The only fun Rebel build . . . is a dead Rebel build.

Han is not the best choice for Opportunist, in my opinion, as he shoots first. The problem here is that whomever he is shooting against will still have their focii and/or evades.

Also, adding extra attack dice lessens the chance of using Gunner at all.

Meanwhile, your A-Wings are asymmetrically upgraded, and won't be getting their dice boost.

Might I suggest the Wave 3 build for Han himself, and look at adjusting his accompaniment?

That would be:

Here's a new HSF type build:

Han Solo

PTL

Gunner

Recon Spec.

M.F. title

58pts

Airen Cracken

Wingman

21pts

Green Squad

C.Refit

Opportunist

21pts

Total: 100

Han PTL to get 2 focus and Evade. Shoots first and if he misses, gunner activates to put hits thru.

Airen pulls off stress after Han shoots and gives a free action to either ship (in case it was bumped or denied actions). Airen could pull stress from GSP if it was needed or after Han has PTL.

GSP fires last and can use Opportunist against ship Han fired on to get 3 dice for the attack.

Han doesn't need 3 actions a round. Airen becomes less of a threat than the GSP, oddly enough, as a skilled Solo should never have to use a red maneuver anyway.

I think you missed the OP's goal for Opportunist. He intends to use it when the Gunner's ability kicks in. The thought is, on Han's second (gunner) shot the target will have used all his tokens to avoid being hit. If that's the case, Han can use Opportunist to throw in an extra attack die! I like the idea of throwing Recon on this build for double focus.

The only fun Rebel build . . . is a dead Rebel build.

Amen to that, every time I try to play rebels I stop short due to feeling squeaky clean and wholesome . :)

This is why when I do play a Rebel build it has HWKs and ORS in them. lol I've always been a risk/reward type of player and because of that, the Interceptor is my all time favorite ship.

Against HSF, the best defense is often to ensure only 1 damage on the stricken ship so that Gunner can't activate once your tokens are gone.

This is particularly true when he's got Opportunist.

And that is exactly why I like this build. It forces your opponents to play that game with their tokens. If they mess up, it isn't just 3 or 4 dice (w/ focus) coming at them again.... It's 4 or 5 (w/ focus)! Its a mind game, like Marc spelled with a K, and you should always mess with your opponent's mind. (Bonus points for who ever gets that reference BTW....)

You are going to end up with the large ships and wave 4 at least 3-4 months before rebel aces. So the new NSF build will be

Han Solo

-Marksmanship

-Gunner

-C3p0

-Millennium falcon title

Bandit squadron+ion missile

C3p0 makes Han live longer and bandits ionize the biggest threats keeping them from performing actions or keeping them from seriously damaging the falcon
