Lando can now Die..

By Kager, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Ok, I cannot wait anymore! XD

Can anyone of you PM me the stats please? I want to begin discussion with my players about that.

They make it pretty clear for Lando, Lobot et al, that "these stats are just for the purposes of this adventure. It's not meant to be a complete workup for exactly who they are."

I write that on my character sheets too. Drives GMs wild! :P

I don't care what the stats say, he has piloting, and a fair amount of it.

Hell yeah, anyone who flies the equivalent of a space-truck through the plumbing of a space station is definately not just using 'green dice' :)

Well, that is a Lando that's several years down the road from the JoY Lando. Perhaps he dumped some experience in the stat after EBS?

I don't care what the stats say, [i disagree with them]

That didn't take long.

The text describing Lando explicitly states that these stats are just for the story, and that "a full profile of Lando Calrissian is beyond the scope of The Jewel of Yavin."

OK, that makes sense then. It leaves it open for future change as events warrant. I'm satisfied.

If I remember my EU stuff correctly, I believe Lando was given piloting lessons by Han, prior to him losing the Falcon, so he presumably would have had his experience by that point. However, with the assertion that it's not a complete profile, and only for the purposes of the adventure, I'm guessing FFG is assuming that Lando will have no need for piloting (space) in the adventure.

Lando's effectiveness at the Battle of Endor was not his piloting skill, but his leadership ability. Yes, he would have piloting skill beyond the abbreviated skill list in Jewel of Yavin (I now have it), but what was Lando doing through most of the fight? He was calling out positions, declaring targets, and carrying out tactics on the fly. That's leadership, which is represented in his profile.

However, during the course of the Jewel of Yavin, Lando has no reason to be piloting a starship on his own. He's not involved in the race, and at best, he's a background character that truthfully the PCs will want to steer clear of. I like how he is presented.

For those who are curious, his highest stat is 4, and he has skills well within that range as well. He could lie to your face, stick a kick me sticker on your back, and you'd thank him for doing it. :)

That was one of my big complaints about the EU Battle of Taneb. It was basically all cleverness and piloting skill on Lando's part and too little leadership from him IMO.

To be fair, Lando himself attributed his promotion to his "little maneuver at the Battle of Tanaab".

So, you should blame the film. :P

He could have led the Tannab defense fleet, or some portion of it,, in a maneuver which turned the tide of the battle, and IMO that would have fit much better with such a maneuver leading to him being promoted to General IMO.

I agree, the EU battle had nothing to do with leadership. Poorly written, it was.

Yeah when our GM read the EU Battle of Tannab he was so pissed he diverted our party, with everyone's consent, to Tannab (Fortunately our campaign was the right time for the battle) and had us fight his version of it. Lando in a modded freighter, Wanderer if memory serves, us in our modded 720, and the Tanaab defense force of a handful of outdated fighters with Lando in command versus a larger force of slightly more advanced pirate fighters (If memory serves the Tanaab fighters were a mix of cloakshapes and homebrewed fighters he called Z=90 Axeblades with the pirates in Z-95s and Y-Wings.} He actually recorded the session with a camcorder, and claimed he was going to make copies and mail them to WEG. Don't know if he actually did though.

oops I think I might ave gotten two different gms reactions crossed. I'm thinking it may have been our saga gm after reading the guide to warfare who filmed the session and said he would send a copy of it, along with a log of our map moves to Del Rey while the d6 gm just ran the battle but didn't send his to anyone.

I drove to Miniature Market yesterday to pick mine up. They had answered my email first thing the morning after I had sent it, so I have had no problems with that, although there was no answer on the phone when I tried to call the number listed on their retail store page.
