Heroes @ GenCon

By bcwMD, in Battlelore

Well, still no official word on when anything with Heroes is going to be happening, but I finally got a chance to sit down and look at the GenCon event calendar, and saw this:

BattleLore: Heroic Indeed

The heroes of BattleLore take to the battlefield and give their decree to their troops. Come show off your BattleLore hero and prove why your Hero is supreme above all others.

So we should be seeing Heroes before then. I hope.

Ah, that's excellent! Thanks for spotting that!

Well Richard has in the past demoed item that haven't been released - so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case again.

And with no news from FFG - I would think that they would have said something for an item to be released in late July/early August timeframe by now. But then with no news, I wouldn't be surprised either. They must have hired all the same marketing people from DoW on this product line - sorry but with all the activity on the other products and just as popular as them, u would think the least we get is an occasional update.

With no news from FFG, I'm getting tired of checking the forums. May be time to shelve Battle Lore. . . enfadado.gif

Cab--most of the BL events @ GenCon (even the stuff hosted by FFG) mentions bringing your own units with you. And given that this specifically states you need to bring your favorite Hero, it's certainly implying that we should have our copies of Heroes by then. Still, it's as much conjecture as anything. They're also running a new epic map--but whether this will be another scenario, or a map pack like DoW was starting to produce, it's hard to say.

But also (Todd can confirm this - since I always get Origins and GenCon messed up) that Richard does demo at that convention. And also since the con happens in July timeframe (might be August, so if that is the case, add 1/2 month to these #s), with it being end of April, we should have heard some news about Heroes by now. Namely if FFG wants to promote the product (if they do, is another matter, which I won't go into here). Look at the other products that FFG promotes and they usually allow 1-2 month timeframe for them easily (namely expansions, not new lines).

And remember, Convention manuals are done in advance as well. They take 3-4 month in advance to do. So maybe someone was hoping they be out by then as well.

For what it's worth, I've only been to GenCon once - last year, being that once - and though I had a very good time and wouldn't mind going again (and again...), it takes a lot of prodding from the Universe to get me across the country for anything gran_risa.gif Heck, I rarely make it down the street to Denver for the semi-annual boardgame fests there (reminding myself to make time around Labor Day right now...)

I don't know about Richard doing demos at GenCon on a regular basis, but I wouldn't at all be surprised to find that he does. Last year he was certainly there to observe/assist with the playing of the Troll epic adventures. I imagine he would be there for the Heroes fun planned for this year, though I've no knowledge one way another about that aside from the hunch.

As far as the timetable involved in getting that Heroes event into the schedule at GenCon, I will take a look sometime, but I had assumed that was an FFG deal, and if so I would take that as a tip that they certainly plan on having Heroes released by then. I don't doubt that for a second. I've assumed Heroes was going to be released next month for about eighteen months now lengua.gif

Edit: Yup, FFG's thing. And, Richard Borg is scheduled to be there at least some of the time - seems that the winner(s) of the BattleLore tournament that FFG is hosting get to play with Richard and one of the FFG developers for the game, Rob Kouba. Any response, Universe? babeo.gif

I caught this on another site:

Its the July release schedule for FFG, sans Heroes as you can see... Since the May release schedule also didn't include Heroes, short of Richard bringing demos or some August release timed precisely to GenCon, I don't see this event happening as printed. I think its someone's wishful thinking, though I'd love to be proven wrong.

And sorry Toddrew, you are required to attend GenCon again this year. It has been written. No excuses ;)

Oh sure, have the universe tell Todd to go to GenCon but having nothing for Battlelore - par for the course...LOL
